Resilience, as a vital psychological mechanism, is the ability of an individual to effectively cope with stress and return to psychological balance after difficult situations. present study aimed to investigate the relationship between resilience and loneliness in the elderly and identify the factors affecting this relationship using a decision tree. \nMethod A descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted with 1400 elderly people aged 60 and older in Tehran. Data were collected using the Resilience Questionnaire (CD-RISC-25) and the Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale (SELSA-S) and analyzed using the CART decision tree. SPSS v. 22 software was used for analysis. \nResult Based on decision tree analysis using the CART method, elderly with a resilience score of ≤ 74.5 show a higher mean loneliness (53.42 ± 12.02) . elderly with a social score higher than 12.5, the mean loneliness was 62.21 ± 4.82, while in the elderly with a lower score, the mean loneliness was lower [41.62.8.01](41.62.8.01). Individuals with a romantic dimension score of ≤ 12.5 had a very low mean loneliness of 27.53 ± 6.91, while individuals with a higher score experienced a mean of 54.93 ± 9.28. overall accuracy of the model for the high and low loneliness groups was 86.90% and 85.12%, respectively. \nConclusion The present findings emphasize that strengthening individual resilience, along with promoting social and family support and paying attention to emotional relationships, is effective in reducing loneliness in older people. \nKeywords Resilience · Psychological · Loneliness · Family support · Social support · Aged \n􀀍 Peiman Fereidouni Sarijeh[peimanfereidounisarijeh@gmail.com](peimanfereidounisarijeh@gmail.com); [peimanfereidounisa@yahoo.com](peimanfereidounisa@yahoo.com) \nAli Khatib \n[khatiba1@nums.ac.ir](khatiba1@nums.ac.ir); [ali.khatib.mkh@gmail.com](ali.khatib.mkh@gmail.com) \nAkram Gazerani \n[akramgazrany@gmail.com](akramgazrany@gmail.com) \nMohammadmahdi Pazhavand [mohammadmahdi_pazhavand@yahoo.com](mohammadmahdi_pazhavand@yahoo.com)[ ](mohammadmahdi_pazhavand@yahoo.com)Mohammad amin Ebrahimi [mohammadaminebrahimi105@gmail.com](mohammadaminebrahimi105@gmail.com) \nBahareh Ranjbari \n[baharehranjbari19@gmail.com](baharehranjbari19@gmail.com) \n1 Department of Nursing, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Healthy Ageing Research Centre, Neyshabur University of Medical Sciences, Neyshabur, Iran \n2 Department of Operating Room, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Neyshabur University of Medical Sciences, Neyshabur, Iran \n3 Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran \n4 Medical Ethics and History of Medicine Research Center, PhD Student in Medical Ethics, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran \n5 Clinical Research Development Unit, Vasei Hospital, Student Research Committee, Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences, Sabzevar, Iran \n6 Nursing Expert, Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, Bandar Abbas, Iran \n1 3 \nIntroduction \nAging is accompanied by profound changes in biological, psychological, and social aspects and is considered the most critical and challenging stage of human life [1].
