The tool also includes GDPR general data protection content, ethics rules, practical exercises, and a decision tree for ethical committees with contact information for UHasselt.","Newsletter 2022-2/23  \nResearch Integrity Training Tool: Mind the GAP  \nMind the GAP (Good Academic Practices) is a novel online training tool on research integrity aimed at PhD students and more experienced researchers, jointly developed by the five universities in Flanders, Belgium.  \nThe Tool can be found on Blackboard here  \nThe KEY COMPONENTS of the practice are its 4 main modules. In addition to that the training tool also provides exercises (‘test your mind for GAPs’) that will help the participant understand and practice certain principles.  \n Module 1: Introduction: research integrity in general  \n Module 2: Supervision and Mentoring: focus on the relationship between PhD researchers and their supervisors and mentors  \n Module 3: Good Academic Practices  \n Module 4: Violations of Research Integrity: possible violations of research integrity and what to do when misconduct happens.  \n Supplementary-General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)  \n Supplementary-Ethics rules and regulations  \n Test your mind for GAPs  \nDecision Tree Ethical Committee  \nHasselt University strives for scientific integrity and asks all researchers to prioritise ethics in their individual research activities. Ethical aspects can become relevant at the beginning or throughout the course of the research. In order to help support these ethical requirements, an UHasselt working group has created a decision tree for ethical committees.  \nAt the beginning of a research, decisions are made that can impact the ethical factor of the research activities. An ethical approval is required before the start of the work package that contains the ethical sensitive research activities.
