Teachers and school staff must make sure that they follow the subject-specific instructions for conducting speaking tests which are available on our website (see further information below) . \nAccess arrangements \nThe centre must ensure that any approved access arrangements that a student is entitled to can still be provided. For example, extra time or supervised rest breaks. Similarly, you should also consider if this method of assessment is appropriate in line with the students’ individual needs. \nAny supervised rest breaks should be clearly signposted, without stopping the recording, and during these periods the student should not have access to the speaking card or their notes. \nThe student should not leave the room, however in exceptional cases where this is necessary as part of an agreed access arrangement, the students’ parent or guardian should supervise them outside of the room. \nTechnology requirements \nIf you’re unable to conduct an assessment face-to-face and choose to continue with the speaking test, it’s the school’s responsibility to arrange a suitable online meeting, and ensure suitable internet access is available. Both the centre and the student should be appropriately familiar with the technology to ensure the remote exam runs smoothly. Students must use laptops to make sure that they’re able to see the materials shared on screen and to enable screen sharing. \nThe chosen meeting platform must be able to: \n• record and save the video recording of the assessment to upload to Digital Media Portal (Video types we can support: FLV, MP4, MXF, GXF, TS, PS, 3GP, 3GPP, MPG, WMV, ASF, AVI, MKV, WAV, MOV.) \n• the platform must allow the student to record their notes. We suggest that this is used so you can be assured that notes are not available after the test. If you would like to allow notes on physical paper, you will be responsible for ensuring these can be confidentially destroyed \n• complete the exam in the given time window \nPhysical space requirements \nIt’s important to make sure that speaking tests are carried out in-line with the same levels of security as face-to-face speaking tests. That means that both teachers and students must make sure that they are ina venue that is free from noise and interruptions. \nThe teacher-examiner must feel confident that the student has a suitable space to complete the speaking exam and that it meets JCQ requirements, [e.g. you](e.g. you) can clearly identify that no revision notes or other prohibited materials are accessible during the exam. \nFor both integrity and safeguarding reasons, a student’s parent or guardian should be available, though not present in the room. \nEmail addresses used for remote speaking tests \nWhen agreeing to a remote speaking test, teachers and students (and their parents) must acknowledge and agree to the following: \n• where possible, centre email addresses should be used rather than personal ones \n• email addresses shared between teachers and students are provided solely for the purpose of facilitating the administration ","cbCaihCieM9NZAuT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihCieM9NZAuT","pdf",148437,"English","# Scope and applicability\n# Submission deadlines and exam types\n# Access arrangements\n# Technology requirements\n# Physical space and safeguarding\n# Email addresses and data handling\n# Delivering the exam\n# After the exam: submissions and notes","[{\"question\":\"When should schools use remote speaking tests instead of face-to-face assessments?\",\"answer\":\"Use remote speaking tests when schools in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE are disrupted by conflict and cannot conduct speaking assessment face-to-face.
