They are not exhaustive and other answers may be acceptable, but they are intended as a guide to give teachers and students feedback.  \nComponent 1  \nReligions  \nChristianity: Beliefs  \nArea of study: Key beliefs 1  \n\n| Key concept | Definition |\n| --- | --- |\n| Judgement | God’s evaluation of a person’s deeds in life |\n| Omnipotent | All-powerful |\n| Resurrection | Being brought back to new life after death |\n| Trinity | The three persons of the Christian God |\n| Creation | The Christian belief about how the world began |\n\n2 Three of the following:  \n• Omnipotent – all-powerful  \n• Omniscient – all-knowing  \n• Benevolent – all-loving  \n• Immanent – involved in the world and creation  \n• Transcendent – beyond space and time, eternal, self-existent  \n• Merciful – has unlimited capacity to forgive; compassionate  \n• Just – fair, especially in judgements; absolutely without bias  \n• Creator – created the universe and all life from nothing  \n3 God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live as a human and be crucified for the atonement of human sin – ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son’ (John 3:16)  \n– the supreme act of love.  \nThe Bible says many times that God is loving, and gives many examples of God’s love.  \nJesus says God is love, and describes God’s love as being unlimited – ‘look at the sparrows’ (Matthew 6:26–7) .  \nJesus uses parables to show God’s love, e.g. Prodigal Son.  \nChristians point to having felt comforted when praying – evidence of God’s love.  \nChristians point to a feeling of love and elation when they ‘open themselves to God’ – evidence of God’s love.  \n4 Christians can see evidence of evil and suffering everywhere in the world, and experience it themselves. They believe in a God who is all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful. If this God exists, then this God could and should be able to end evil and suffering. The fact that evil and suffering continue raises questions about either God’s qualities, or God’s existence. In other words, it creates doubt about God.  \n5 There are many theodicies. In each case, God is allowing the evil and/or suffering to happen/continue ‘for good reason’. These include the following:  \n• Free will defence – God does not interfere in the world so that humans can make proper use of their free will. This might be to not do evil, or to help victims of it, for example.  \n• Evil is the doing of some malevolent force, i.e. the devil, who tries to tempt humans to disobey God.  \n• Suffering is a test of faith, for which the person suffering will receive reward from God (Beatitudes) .  \n• Suffering is a form of education for the soul – helps us to take responsibility for our actions, and to take responsibility for the world (stewardship) .
