The text justifies concerns through personal engagement, addressing climate change, the irresponsible exploitation of natural resources, habitat loss and biodiversity decline. It also examines waste management, plastic pollution, and social inequalities affecting vulnerable communities. Proposed actions include reducing carbon footprint, using renewable energy, responsible production and consumption, recycling, community advocacy, and ongoing learning.",{"@graph":69,"@context":123},[70,84,106],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":53,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/lifestyle/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/reflection-on-sustainability-and-its-challenges-reflective-writing-and-solutions/270123/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/reflection-on-sustainability-and-its-challenges-reflective-writing-and-solutions/270123.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Oliver","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-22","2026-09-15",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":105},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",16,{"@type":107,"mainEntity":108},"FAQPage",[109,115,119],{"name":110,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":112},"What is the overall purpose of the reflective writing in the document?","Question",{"text":113,"@type":114},"The reflection uses structured, systematic writing to support transformative learning, justify actions, and propose change regarding sustainability.","Answer",{"name":116,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":117},"Which key sustainability challenge does the author identify first, and why?",{"text":118,"@type":114},"The author highlights climate change as a pressing issue due to the frequency of extreme weather events and irreversible damage to regions, communities, and ecosystems.",{"name":120,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":121},"What solutions and actions does the author recommend or adopt?",{"text":122,"@type":114},"The author supports reducing carbon footprint, using renewable energy, reducing single-use plastics, recycling, advocating sustainable practices in the community, and prioritising responsible production and consumption while supporting environmental justice.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":125,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":127,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":129,"site_id":62},270123,1789454853,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":132},{"doc_id":129,"user_id":133,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":134,"doc_module":4,"category_id":52,"category_name":53,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":135,"file_id":136,"file_url":137,"file_type":138,"file_size":139,"view_count":105,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":34,"language":140,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":141,"faqs":142,"seo_title":143,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":130,"read_time":144},8796095461610,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_276721f389ce27ea32af1340a28f341c","Guide to annotations What do the colours mean? \nNote: ‘Discourse markers’ refers to words used to start and end conversations and topics. Its overall purpose is conducive to transformative learning. By reflecting on experiences in a systematic way (through structured text writing) we are enabled to: justify actions, solve problems, examines assumptions, attitudes, values \nand propose change. \n1 \nPage number in top right corner \nReflection on ‘sustainability’ and its challenges \nAffiliation (faculty, university) \nMarie Mango (s123321) \nStudent name/number \nFaculty of Arts and Society, Charles Darwin University \nABC123 Exploring Sustainable Approaches Unit code and name \n Lecturer/supervisor name Dr. Lavender Fields \nAugust 11, 2023 Date of submission \n2 \nAuthor’s experience/ observation is described and justification provided \nEach paragraph considers a different aspect of the issue \nReflection on ‘sustainability’ and its challenges \nMy reflections on sustainability, are linked to my awareness of the serious impact our day-to-day actions have on the space we live in, and, long term, on the wider environment. I have also been more and more conscious of the need for change we all face. I am increasingly concerned with the challenges that applying even the basic principles of sustainability, may hinder our response to the problem. As a social human being, though, I feel a personal responsibility to contribute towards finding solutions for a more sustainable future. \nDirect reference to author’s personal engagement with issue expressed by ‘I’, ‘my’and other discourse markers (I feel, I am concerned, etc. ) \nThe first serious consequence of the lack of sustainability \nmeasures that comes to mind is ‘climate change’. I consider it a \nKey word introduces the paragraph’s theme \npressing issue since it has manifested in the most devastating ways a few times in the last two or three decades. We have all witnessed the increasing frequency of extreme weather events and the irreversible damage they have had on entire regions, communities and ecosystems. I have been thinking of how, even my individual choices can make a difference. A simple action such as reducing my carbon \nfootprint and using renewable energy sources can make a difference if others would do the same. Why use the car if we can ride a bike to work? Have we considered buying an electric car? \nThe irresponsible exploitation of natural resources is another issue that deserves attention. It seems to be happening at the expense of weaker countries which are exploited for their natural riches. I often watch documentaries showing what habitat loss, \n3 \nNew paragraph marker \nProposed solution by author \ndeforestation, and the ever diminishing biodiversity has done to what once were the most beautiful parts of the world (Sen, 2017) . It is hard to believe that we find it so difficult to give up our luxury goods when we witness the devastating consequences of our consumption patterns. It is clear in my mind that our efforts should focus on advocating for responsible production and consumption and on somehow prioritising remedies and compensation for those regions \nwho suffered the loss of these resources (Mckenzie-Mohr, 2011) . \nReference to research to support solution Parenthetical citation: one author \nPersonally, I have gradually but consistently adopted sustainable practices, such as buying locally sourced products, reducing waste, and supporting businesses that prioritise sustainability. \nNew paragraph introduces a new issue to reflect on \nAnother problem hard to ignore is waste management widespread malpractices.
