Each bottle contains approximately 100 g of material.  \nNon-Certified Value: Non-certified values are suitable for use in method development, method harmonization, and process control but do not provide metrological traceability to the International System of Units (SI) or other higher-order reference system [1] . The non-certified mass fraction value for glyphosate on an as-received basis is provided below.  \nMeasurand (CAS \\#) Mass Fraction (as-received)(a)  \n(ng/g)  \nGlyphosate (1071-83-6) 68.7 ± 6.8  \n(a) The value is expressed as x ± 2u(x), where x is a mean value and u(x) is its associated standard uncertainty. While the best estimate of the mass fraction for the measurand lies within the interval x ± 2u(x), this interval may not include the true value. For guidance in propagating this uncertainty, see reference 2.  \nPeriod of Validity: The non-certified value is valid within the measurement uncertainty specified until 01 April 2028. The value assignments are nullified if the material is stored or used improperly, damaged, contaminated, or otherwise modified.  \nMaintenance of Non-Certified Values: NIST will monitor this material to the end of its period of validity. If substantive technical changes occur that affect the non-certified values during this period, NIST will update this Reference Material Information Sheet and notify registered users. The value assignment does not apply to contents of previously opened bottles as the stability of the measurand in opened bottles has not been investigated.  \nUse: Before use, the contents of the unopened bottle should be mixed thoroughly by inverting and/or rolling. It is recommended that test portions for analysis equal to or greater than 0.5 g be used.  \nSource and Preparation: The RM is a blend of oat flour from conventional and organic agricultural practices obtained from commercial sources. The level of glyphosate in the RM was targeted to represent typical glyphosate levels found in oats from organic agriculture practices, yet high enough to detect by current glyphosate analytical methods. Approximately 22 kg of conventional oat flour were placed in one 13-gallon high-density polyethylene (HDPE) container, and approximately 90 kg of organic oat flour were placed in four 13-gallon HDPE containers. All the containers were irradiated to an absorbed dose of 10.2 kGy to 14.8 kGy by Neutron Products (Dickerson, MD) . After irradiation, approximately 11 kg of the conventional oat flour was blended with approximately 90 kg of organic oat flour by the Office of Reference Materials at NIST (Gaithersburg, MD) and subsequently packaged into 100-g portions in 8 oz HDPE bottles.  \nAnalysis: Homogeneity of glyphosate in RM 8239 was assessed by a collaborating laboratory using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using a sample size of 0.5 g.
