Building upon a previous case study conducted in a small New Zealand rural school, the author analyzes the multifaceted role that educational institutions play as anchors for community cohesion. The study highlights the urgent necessity for policy makers, administrators, and local residents to recognize that schools are not merely centers for academic instruction, but are foundational elements for sustainable community growth and collective identity. By examining current trends in rural development, the text provides a comprehensive overview of how schools can foster engagement, address local challenges, and help implement strategies for long-term community health. It serves as a significant resource for stakeholders involved in rural education and sociology, offering critical insights into the intersection of educational policy and local infrastructure. The analysis underscores that the health of a rural school is intrinsically linked to the social and economic vitality of the community it serves.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":40,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/research-report/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/reenergizing-small-communities-a-vital-role-for-rural-schools/603348/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/reenergizing-small-communities-a-vital-role-for-rural-schools/603348.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"moss~","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-29","2026-10-15",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":14},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"What is the primary focus of this article?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"The article examines the vital role that rural schools play in recharging and sustaining small communities within modern, industrialized societies.","Answer",{"name":115,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":116},"Who is the target audience for the findings presented?",{"text":117,"@type":113},"The findings are intended for policy makers, educational administrators, and local citizens who play a role in community development.",{"name":119,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":120},"What is the connection between this article and previous work?",{"text":121,"@type":113},"This article serves as a follow-up to a 2003 case study by the same author, which focused on a small rural school in New Zealand.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":124,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":126,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":128,"site_id":62},603348,1792886338,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":131},{"doc_id":128,"user_id":132,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":133,"doc_module":4,"category_id":39,"category_name":40,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":134,"file_id":135,"file_url":136,"file_type":137,"file_size":138,"view_count":14,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":8,"language":139,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":140,"faqs":141,"seo_title":142,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":143,"read_time":81},962090895452,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_a8503ba1806abce46bf441b54a3ca4cd","Reenergizing Small Communities: A Vital Role for Rural Schools-The Educational Forum Page 1 of 1 \nReenergizing Small Communities: A Vital Role for Rural Schools \nAuthor: Kathleen Anne Wright (Show Biography) \nDOI: 10. 1080/00131720709335024 \nPublication Frequency: 4 issues per year \nPublished in: The Educational Forum , Volume 71 , Issue 4 December 2007 , pages 345-360 \nFormats available: PDF (English) \nAbstract \nNew ways of participating in rural communities and in community development have evolved as the structure of rural communities has changed. In some communities, the impetus to redefine andreenergize is strong while, in others, ways to move forward have yet to be identified (Pomeroy 1997) . Rural schools serve a vital role in recreating communities in a highly mobile, industrialized society. According to Lyson (2005, 26), “It is important for policy makers, educational administrators, and local citizens to understand that schools are vital to rural communities.” \nThis article, which is a follow-up to the author's case study involving a small New Zealand rural school (published in The Educational Forum 2003), examines the vital role schools play in recharging small communities. \n[http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a790151352~db=all~tab=content~order=page 5/29/2008](http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a790151352~db=all~tab=content~order=page 5/29/2008)","cbCairoImVbDZeMw","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairoImVbDZeMw","pdf",12756,"English","# The Role of Rural Schools in Community Development\n## Theoretical Framework of Rural Revitalization\n## Case Study - New Zealand Rural Schooling Context","[{\"question\":\"What is the primary focus of this article?\",\"answer\":\"The article examines the vital role that rural schools play in recharging and sustaining small communities within modern, industrialized societies.\"},{\"question\":\"Who is the target audience for the findings presented?\",\"answer\":\"The findings are intended for policy makers, educational administrators, and local citizens who play a role in community development.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the connection between this article and previous work?\",\"answer\":\"This article serves as a follow-up to a 2003 case study by the same author, which focused on a small rural school in New Zealand.\"}]","Reenergizing Small Communities - A Vital Role for Rural Schools | PDF",1792096114]
