Within the recommendations of the Central Office, German universities decide on specific subject choices, combinations, and language requirements. \nApplicants are therefore strongly advised to check all entry requirements with their chosen university before submitting an application. \nThe current recommendations, issued in 2017, will continue to be valid until the winter semester 2023-24 (October-March, typical application deadline 15 July) . \nHowever, they have recently been updated and are to be replaced by the new provisions from the summer semester 2024 (April-September, typical application deadline 15 January). Universities will apply the new framework already from summer semester 2022, if it is more favourable for admission purposes. \nBelow is a summary of the two sets of requirements: \nGeneral entry requirements \n\n| Valid until winter semester 2023/24 | Valid from summer semester 2024 (applicable from summer semester 2022) |\n| --- | --- |\n| Four Cambridge International AS & A Level independent* academic subjects, three of which must be at full A Level | Three independent academic subjects at A Level with a minimum grade C. |\n| standard.\u003Cbr>The four AS & A levels must include:\u003Cbr>• A language.
