The story was written by Lourenço Magaia Sabão and published by Little Zebra Books in 2014, with a copyright in 2026. This version is an adaptation of an original work, \"O homem e o rato,\" published in 2022 and licensed under CC BY 4.0. The original text is copyrighted by SIL Mozambique in 2016. The tale narrates the story of a man who sells oil made in his house, which is also inhabited by numerous rats. The rats' attempts to access the oil are thwarted by the small openings of the bottles and their inability to tip them over. Facing a seemingly insurmountable challenge, one of the rats devises a plan to dip their tails into the bottles and lick the oil off them.
