It explains whether raising fish is feasible, what to purchase first, and appropriate timing for starting a fishpond. The guide describes different types of fish and how reproduction rate affects pond crowding and growth, then instructs on selecting a pond site, ensuring reliable water supply, and assessing soil quality for safe pond construction and drainage.","Raising Fish \nlevel: advanced \nEnglish Agriculture \nRaising Fish \nAdapted, with permission, from the Handbook on Small-Scale Freshwater Fish Farming No. 24 of a Training Series of Handbooks published by the Publications Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, 00153 Rome, Italy \nEnglish Oxfordshire, England \nCopyright © 2019, MissionAssist \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. You will also be able to sell fish for food in the market. \nCan I raise Fish? \nYou can, if you have enough land for a fishpond, and if the soil conditions are right. \nWhat will I need to buy? \nIf you dig your fishpond by hand, it will not cost much. Baby fish are called ‘fry.’ When they get as big as your finger they are called ‘fingerlings.’ Neither will not cost much, and you will soon have enough without having to buy more. \nIf you buy your first stock, get them from the Municipal Agriculture office (MAO) or perhaps from someone you know who has some to spare. If you can get animal manure, you will not need to buy fertilizer. \nWhen should I do it? \nYou can start at any time. Fish are an important source of protein, which is essential for healthy growth. Eating fish will help to protect you and your family from many illnesses. \nDifferent kinds of Fish \nGod made many kinds of fish. In Genesis Chapter 1 vv. 20 to 23 it says: ‘And God said,“Let the water be full of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth and across the sky.” So, God created the creatures of the sea and every living thing that lives and moves there and every winged bird, and God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said,“Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the sea and let the birds increase on earth.”’ \nAlthough there are","cbCaioOZiPatitaQ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioOZiPatitaQ","pdf",562247,3,1,21,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n## Can I raise Fish?\n## What will I need to buy?\n## When should I do it?\n# Different kinds of Fish\n# How to make a Fishpond\n## How to choose the right place\n## Water Supply\n## Soil Quality","[{\"question\":\"What conditions are needed to raise fish successfully?\",\"answer\":\"You need enough land for a fishpond and soil conditions that are suitable.
