It soon becomes apparent that Theresah relates only to the adults in the setting and does so in a way which relies on her trying to please them. At times, her relationship style is that of being a servant to the adults.\n1.1\tBy using your knowledge of the various stages of child development examine Theresah’s social behaviour with regard to the social development behaviour expected of a teenager. (5)\n1.2. \tBy applying child and youth care tasks and practice, show ways in which Theresah can be helped to develop her social needs. The heavy metal main gate had been removed by construction workers the afternoon before and placed leaning against the 2-metre wall that bounded the property. Thabo, saw this as an opportunity to show his peers his athletic ability. Instead of going through the now open exit, he climbed up the loose gate as a ladder to leave the property over the wall. When nearly at the top the gate toppled backwards with Thabo attached. The gate and Thabo fell onto a child watching below. The child was severely injured and required hospitalisation. The other children blamed Thabo for the incident, he started isolating himself and even bunking school. Some of the older boys have been seen pushing Thabo around at meal times.\n1.3.\tConsidering this scenario and the child and youth care worker’s responsibility to implement holistic care, what should the child and youth care worker do to ensure the safety of the children and the reduction of the risk of injury to the children in the centre? She throws the empty bottle against the bathroom wall, breaking the bottle. She shouts and threatens the other girls. She grabs the girl she suspects of stealing her shampoo throwing her to the ground.\n2.1.1 \tUsing the stress model, design at each phase of the cycle, practical behaviour management interventions that the child and youth care worker could use to facilitate more appropriate and coping behaviour with Sibongile.
