King","A pharmaceutical-company employee becomes the target of a masked kidnapping crew and is thrown into a revenge-focused operation run like a covert service industry. The narrative blends dark humor with escalating danger, as the protagonist questions motives, resists capture in a chaotic first encounter, and then confronts the organization behind the abductions. Through gritty, sensational details and sharp asides, the story reframes “revenge” as a corporate model with agents, methods, and escalating personal consequences.","[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nCopyright © 2026 by AlexA. The turn-down service is non-existent and the bathroom is a bucket. Not a sturdy plastic bucket either. No durable 5-gallon obtainable at Lowe’s or Home Depot. This particular bucket belonged to Jack and Jill, way back when Mother Goose sent them up a hill to fetch that doomed pailof water. Old and warping wood. A rusting band to hold it all together. Entirely untrustworthy. \nOnly a hardcore regimen of kegels could save me once my bladder inevitably decided to complain. \nBesides the bucket, I was now the proud owner of a blue sleeping bag. A thin nylon shell, sprinkled with a scant amount of filler, crafted to handle Florida’s June nights. \nThese two treasures were all mine, inside the cage that served as my new home. \nThe first time I saw my kidnappers, they were leaping out from behind my neighbor ’s palm trees as I reached into my sporty EV for the bag of groceries I’d bought on the way home from work. The night was warm, Florida-sticky, and the trio were overdressed in black, their faces hidden behind masks. Crispy around the edges from work, I mistook them for a theater troupe. A roaming gang of entertainers, reenacting the mask mandate era of humanity’s most recent plague. \nCommon sense kicked in almost immediately. Think horses, not zebras, at the sound of hoofbeats, as Occam’s Razor says. \n(Although William of Ockham, he of the razor ’s fame, likely never knew about zebras, given that he did all his philosophizing from the confines of the Middle Ages.) \nThis trio of masked men weren’t performers or conscientious citizens, concerned about the transfer of microbes from one mouth and nose to another. They weren’t about to dazzle me with a brief impromptu performance about the slimming effect of black cargo pants, military boots, and skintight T-shirts. They were here for me, and they were here for me ina bad way. \nShit, I could confidently say, was about to go down. \nAs a purely knee-jerk reaction, I threw the paper bag of groceries directly in their masked faces and did my best to poof up like a furious cat. I channeled Henry Cavill in Mission Impossible: Fallout and reloaded my fists. \n“You want some of this?” \nThe answer was yes, they did, in fact, want some of this. That was evident as they stepped through the four-dollar eggs trickling down my driveway to grab me and drag me into their murder van. \nOn some level (the top level, actually) I felt like I deserved whatever was scheduled to happen next. So, I went limp and let them take me. \n“Holy crap, Callie,” I hear you thinkin","cbCaitVoCjZ2FYpB","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitVoCjZ2FYpB","pdf",2621943,6,333,"English","en",105,"# Chapter 1\n## Key opening scene: kidnapping and first resistance\n## Inside the protagonist’s workplace\n## The revenge-service premise","[{\"question\":\"Why does the protagonist believe she was kidnapped?\",\"answer\":\"She interprets the abduction as targeted retribution connected to her employer and her role, concluding the kidnapping is payback rather than random crime.\"},{\"question\":\"What is Revenge Services Inc.?\",\"answer\":\"It is a company offering a one-stop revenge “service,” with agents able to carry out both large and personal retaliatory actions for clients with grievances and money.\"},{\"question\":\"What happens immediately during the kidnapping scene?\",\"answer\":\"The protagonist spots the masked men, throws a paper bag at them while trying to fight back, and they then drag her away into their van.\"}]","Pushing Daisies - Alex A.
