This observational door-to-door screening study assessed how emotional distress and patient concerns influenced supportive care needs among 97 home-based cancer patients with an average age of 73.43 years. Findings showed priority treatment concerns, sex differences in psychological support needs, and higher concerns predicting increased supportive care needs, especially in specific cancer types, supporting targeted psychosocial care.",{"@graph":69,"@context":123},[70,84,106],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":35,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/healthcare/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/psychological-distress-and-concerns-of-in-home-older-people-living-with-cancer-and-their-impact-on-supportive-care-needs-an-observational-survey/384243/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/psychological-distress-and-concerns-of-in-home-older-people-living-with-cancer-and-their-impact-on-supportive-care-needs-an-observational-survey/384243.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Kurz","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-11-01","2026-09-24",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":105},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",11,{"@type":107,"mainEntity":108},"FAQPage",[109,115,119],{"name":110,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":112},"What was the aim of the observational survey?","Question",{"text":113,"@type":114},"To assess how emotional distress and concerns influenced supportive care needs in cancer patients receiving home-based healthcare.","Answer",{"name":116,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":117},"How was the study conducted and who participated?",{"text":118,"@type":114},"A door-to-door screening program approached 97 cancer patients with a mean age of 73.43 years.",{"name":120,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":121},"Which factors were associated with greater supportive care needs?",{"text":122,"@type":114},"An increased number of concerns in the prior weeks was linked to a higher risk of increased supportive care needs, and specific cancer types (e.g., male bone cancer patients) showed higher supportive care needs.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":125,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":127,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":129,"site_id":62},384243,1790373619,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":132},{"doc_id":129,"user_id":133,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":134,"doc_module":4,"category_id":34,"category_name":35,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":135,"file_id":136,"file_url":137,"file_type":138,"file_size":139,"view_count":105,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":140,"language":141,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":142,"faqs":143,"seo_title":144,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":145,"read_time":146},2336478945635,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_6f874abed73319feea01a86fa6f0fab8","Article \nPsychological Distress and Concerns of In-Home Older People Living with Cancer and Their Impact on Supportive Care Needs: An Observational Survey \nChristos Kleisiaris 1, Maria Maniou 1, Savvato Karavasileiadou 2, Constantinos Togas 3, Theocharis Konstantinidis 1, Ioanna V. This study aimed to assess the influence of both emotional distress and concerns on the supportive care needs of cancer patients receiving home-based healthcare. (2) Methods: In this door-to-door screening program, 97 cancer patients were approached, with a mean age of 73 years old (mean = 73.43; SD = 6.60) . (3) Results: As expected, 42.3% of patients highlighted their treatment as their main psychological priority, with 20.6% identifying concerns about the future of their family in this regard. No significant associations with respect to sex were identified in terms of focus, though females reported the need for more frequent psychological support (58.7% vs. 37.3%, respectively, p = 0.035) compared to males. Patients who had experienced an increased number of concerns during the last weeks (IRR = 1.02; 95% CI: 1.00–1.03, p = 0.007) had a significantly greater risk of presenting an increased rate of supportive care needs. Notably, male patients with bone cancer presented asignificantly greater number of supportive care needs (mean rank 45.5 vs. 9.0, p = 0.031) respectively, in comparison to those with other types of cancer.
