Only courses to fulfill Certificate requirements will be paid for by VHCF (up to $26,000) . \n* Fees may vary by university. VHCF will pay those standard fees required by the program, such as academic support services, administrative fees, computer/technology fees, malpractice insurance (if mandatory), or laboratory fees. Examples of fees/expenses not included in scholarship: books, travel, parking, health insurance, life insurance, accident insurance, educational association fees, tuition and fees for elective courses, late charges/penalty fees, and attorney fees. \nUpon completion of the Psych NP Certificate, scholarship recipients must fulfill a Service Commitment by working as a Psych NP in a preferred organization serving uninsured and/or medically-underserved Virginians for two years (or 4,000 hours) Upon licensure as a Psych NP, recipients must work as a Psych NP at a preferred organization serving medically-underserved Virginians for 2-years (4,000 hours) . Service Commitments may be fulfilled in any Virginia locality – they are all federally-designated mental health professional shortage areas. \n• Preferred organizations: federally qualified health centers, free or hybrid/charitable \nclinics, publicly-supported organizations (community services boards, state facilities, military or Veterans Affairs facilities), or a practice/entity with a large portion of patients/clients enrolled Medicaid and/or Medicare. \nApplication Process \n1. Nurse Practitioners (NPs) apply the School of Nursing ( SON) accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education of his/her choice for admission to a post-Masters Psych NP Certificate program. \n2. Once admitted to an accredited School of Nursing, the interested NP applies to VHCF’s Psych NP Scholarship Program. \n3. The Foundation reviews the candidate’s application and all required supporting materials (e.g., evidence of admission from the SON, including the student’s start date/semester) and interviews the candidate. The application determination is made by a review team. \nEligibility Criteria \nThe applicant must: \n1. Be accepted into a post-Masters Psych NP Certificate program at an accredited School of Nursing. \n3. Be eligible to work in the US for any employer without Visa sponsorship. \n5. Be free from judgements arising from federal or state debt. \n6. Have an agreement with his/her employer(s) to provide a flexible work schedule , as needed , while enrolled in the Certificate program. \n7. Sign a release of information form for VHCF to receive grade reports; arrange for the college/university to issue invoices to VHCF; and for the Foundation to make payments and communicate with program faculty/staff, as needed. \n8.
