You will need to be able to interpret graphics to respond to questions, but you will not need to use any math on this section of the PSAT. \nQuestion Types – \nMain Ideas, Vocab-in-Context, Inference, Evidence Support, Data Reasoning, Technique, DetailOriented \nThe Reading and Writing scores are added together and multiplied by 10 to get a possible score between 160 and 760 . \nGeneral Tips- \n• Should you read the passage first or go straight to the questions is your choice. Practice both and see which option gives you the best results. \n• Use Tracking to increase your reading comprehension. Tracking is a technique that will increase your reading comprehension by 30% . Use a pencil to underline the main ideas and you’ll create a road map back to the correct answer. \n• Avoid answer choices that include extreme words that don’t reflect the thoughts or opinions of the narrator or author. Words like: never, always, resentment, rigid, bitterness, perfect, unloving, proof or evidence. \n• Consider reading the introductory blurb. This may give you the topic or main idea of the passage you are about to read. \n•Bubbling strategy-Remember that you can write in the test booklet so the fastest way to bubble is to circle the answers in the test booklet. However, remember to bubble in the answers before you turn the page or go to the next section. This is the fastest way to bubble and it allows you to stay focused on two pages without having to go back and forth between the test and bubble sheet. \nProperty of Henson Test Prep \nPSAT Writing & Language Tip Sheet \nTime – 35 Minutes \nNumber of Questions – 4 Passages, 44 Questions (approx. 9 minutes per Passage) \nYou will receive a score in the range of 160-760 points for the combined Reading and Writing Section. This along with a possible 200-800 points for Math, will result in an overall 320-1520 points on the PSAT. \nQuestion Types – \n1. Slightly more focused on writing style: More questions dealing with Expression of Ideas (writing style and argument) than it does targeting Standard English Conventions (grammar and sentence structure) . \n2. Includes charts and graphs: Like the PSAT Reading section, PSAT Writing can include charts and graphs with its passages. However, there are only a few questions of this type per test. \n3. Some word choice questions involve challenging vocab: this type of question tests knowledge of more traditional vocabulary. \nGeneral Tips- \n4. Slow down your reading speed on rhetorical questions and underline key words. Read all 4 choices carefully. The question will tell you where to read the best answer. \n5. Time Strategy: Going too fast will cause careless mistakes-too slow and you won’t finish. Remember, you don’t get extra points for finishing early. Working through the passages too quickly and making careless errors is a big mistake. \n6. Read the title of each essay and the entire sentence that has an underlined portion. \n7. Remember that your answer needs to reflect the words and phrases that SAT is using in the sentence. \n8. Punctuation-Semi-colons are used to separate two complete sentences. A Colon must come after a complete sentence and a list or explanation of the previous sentence will follow. The Dash is used to set off a non-essential clause (like a comma) . Use Commas to separate a nonessential clause, appositives, after introductory phrases, and items in a list. \nProperty of Henson Test Prep \nPSAT Math Tip Sheet \nE. 5 \nMath Tips continued \nPSAT Class Assignments & Test Records \nStudent' s Name \n\n| | Reading | Writing & Language | Math No Calculator | Math With Calculator |\n| --- ","cbCaii0uZkhI7bYz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaii0uZkhI7bYz","pdf",2612134,"English","# PSAT Reading Tip Sheet\n## Passage format and question types\n## General reading tips\n## Bubbling strategy\n# PSAT Writing & Language Tip Sheet\n## Writing style focus and question types\n## General writing and punctuation tips\n# PSAT Math Tip Sheet\n## E.5\n## Math tips continued\n# PSAT Class Assignments & Test Records\n## Homework tracking by week\n## Test score tracking","[{\"question\":\"How should students manage time in the PSAT Reading section?\",\"answer\":\"Allocate 60 minutes with about 12 minutes per passage.
