(“Kimley-Horn” or “Consultant”) and North Carolina Department of Transportation (“Client”) for providing professional engineering services for the above referenced project (the “Project”) . Our project understanding, scope of services, schedule, and fee are below.  \nProject Understanding  \nThe purpose of this contract is to design approximately 1500 feet of sidewalk along Hillsboro Street (15- 501), from Thompson Street to north of Midway Street and tie to the existing/proposed sidewalk designed as a part ofR-5724B. This project will provide the missing sidewalk connection to downtown Pittsboro and allow for greater pedestrian safety and connectivity for residents walking to parks, shopping, and restaurants. This contract will also include the design of conceptual alternatives for the intersection of Hillsboro Street and Salisbury Street. In coordination with the Town of Pittsboro (the “Town”) a chosen alternative will be selected and then carried through final design, along with the sidewalk design.  \nThe general description of work for this scope of services includes the following:  \nScope of Services  \nTask 1 – PDEA Other  \nProject Management-Meetings and Coordination  \nKimley-Horn will conduct miscellaneous coordination with the Client and Town staff and provide project administration through the anticipated 24-month design duration. The coordination will include regular transmittals of project correspondence and records; review of analyses, documents, and designs; and telephone contact for items requiring attention. Kimley-Horn will develop a project work plan, conduct project administration, develop up to 24 monthly progress reports, summarize the project schedule, and maintain the schedule for the anticipated 24-month design duration.  \nConceptual Design Alternatives  \nKimley-Horn will prepare three (3) conceptual designs for the intersection improvements at the intersection of Hillsboro Street and Salisbury Street. The alternative designs will be represented by color renderings atan appropriate scale. This will include edges of pavement, locations of existing buildings, curb bulb-outs,  \non-street parking, crosswalks, conceptual landscape design, pedestrian ramps and existing/proposed sidewalk areas.  \nAdditional deliverables included as part of the conceptual design will include three (3) rendered plan visualizations ofthe conceptual design for the project, plan view only. Existing conditions to remain (such as buildings, utilities, adjacent streets/areas not included as part of the project area, etc.) will be represented with minimal detail to convey surrounding context but will not be the central focus of the visualizations.  \nKimley-Horn will provide a Quality Control/Quality Assurance review of the conceptual renderings prior to submittal. The conceptual design will be submitted to NCDOT and the Town for review in PDF format.  \nThe Conceptual Design submittal will include a preliminary Engineer’s Opinion of Construction Cost (OPCC) .  \nKimley-Horn has no control over the cost of labor, materials, equipment, or over the Contractor's methods of determining prices or over competitive bidding or market conditions. All provided opinions of probable costs are based on the information known to Kimley-Horn at the time and represent only Kimley-Horn 's judgment as design professionals familiar with the construction industry.
