SECTION IV \n1-2- 1 1 \nSECTION I \nTime—35 minutes \n26 Questions \nDirections: The questions in this section are based on the reasoning contained in brief statements or passages. For some questions, more than one of the choices could conceivably answer the question. However, you are to choose the best answer; that is, the response that most accurately and completely answers the question. You should not make assumptions that are by commonsense standards implausible, superfluous, or incompatible with the passage. After you have chosen the best answer, blacken the corresponding space on your answer sheet. \n1. Joanna: The only way for a company to be successful, \nafter emerging from bankruptcy, is to produce the same goods or services that it did before going bankrupt. It is futile for such a company to try to learn a whole new business. \nRuth: Wrong. The Kelton Company was a major mining operation that went into bankruptcy. On emerging from bankruptcy, Kelton turned its mines into landfills and is presently a highly successful waste-management concern. \nRuth uses which one of the following argumentative techniques in countering Joanna’s argument? \n(A) She presents a counterexample to a claim. \n(B) She offers an alternative explanation for a phenomenon. \n(C) She supports a claim by offering a developed and relevant analogy. \n(D) She undermines a claim by showing that it rests on an ambiguity. \n(E) She establishes a conclusion by excluding the only plausible alternative to that conclusion. \n2. Nutritionist: Recently a craze has developed for \nhome juicers, $300 machines that separate the pulp of fruits and vegetables from the juice they contain. Outrageous claims are being made about the benefits of these devices: \ndrinking the juice they produce is said to help one lose weight or acquire a clear complexion, to aid digestion, and even to prevent cancer. \nBut there is no indication that juice separated from the pulp of the fruit or vegetable has any properties that it does not have when unseparated. Save your money. If you want carrot juice, eat a carrot. \nWhich one of the following, if true, most calls into question the nutritionist’s argument? \n(A) Most people find it much easier to consume a given quantity of nutrients in liquid form than to eat solid foods containing the same quantity of the same nutrients. \n(B) Drinking juice from home juicers is less healthy than is eating fruits and vegetables because such juice does not contain the fiber that is eaten if one consumes the entire fruit or vegetable. \n(C) To most people who would be tempted to buy a home juicer, $300 would not be a major expense. \n(D) The nutritionist was a member of a panel that extensively evaluated early prototypes of home juicers. \n(E) Vitamin pills that supposedly contain nutrients ava","cbCail2l1cQgG2Tf","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCail2l1cQgG2Tf","pdf",565468,35,"English","# SECTION I\n## Logical Reasoning\n# SECTION II\n## Reading Comprehension\n# SECTION III\n## Logical Reasoning\n# SECTION IV\n## Analytical Reasoning","[{\"question\":\"What is the time limit and question count for SECTION I?\",\"answer\":\"SECTION I allows 35 minutes and contains 26 questions.\"},{\"question\":\"How are the questions in SECTION I expected to be answered?\",\"answer\":\"Choose the best answer that most accurately and completely answers the question, then blacken the corresponding space on the answer sheet.\"},{\"question\":\"What topics are covered across the named LSAT sections in the document?\",\"answer\":\"The document lists Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Analytical Reasoning across Sections I through IV.\"}]","PrepTest 36 - Test Questions and Directions | PDF",1790670743,88]
