\nDay of the test: \n Women of childbearing age will be asked about pregnancy status. \n You may take necessary medication with water. \n Before your examination, a CT technologist will explain the procedure to you and answer any questions you might have. \n Wear comfortable clothing w/o metal clips or zippers. A sports bra is recommended. \nDuring the examination: \n Most CT Scans are very quick, the exam is completed in a few minutes. \n You may be asked to remove personal accessories, such as eyeglasses, dentures, hair accessories, jewelry, hearing devices, etc., as those items can interfere with the scan. \n Once in the scan room, a CT technologist will position you on the table. \nType of exams: \nCT scan without IV contrast: \n No preparation needed for this exam. \n Multiple x-rays will be taken in rapid succession. \nCT scan with IV contrast: \n Do not eat or drink anything 2 hours prior to the exam. \n You will receive contrast through an IV. This enables detailed imaging of the area being studied. \n IV Contrast may briefly make you feel nauseous, warm, and/or cause a metallic taste in your mouth. \n If you begin to itch, feel short of breath, or are otherwise uncomfortable, let the technologist know immediately. \n All patients over 60 years old and/or have a history of diabetes must have bloodwork done prior to the scan. \nP | 773.296.5500 F | 773.296.3800 \n[chicagoent.com](chicagoent.com)","cbCaibKOGcBDzvMd","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibKOGcBDzvMd","pdf",52847,"English","# Preparing for your CT Scan\n## Day of the Test\n## During the Examination\n## Type of Exams\n### CT scan without IV contrast\n### CT scan with IV contrast","[{\"question\":\"What should I do if I have an allergy to contrast?\",\"answer\":\"You must notify the staff regarding any contrast allergies prior to scheduling your CT scan appointment.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the preparation for a CT scan with IV contrast?\",\"answer\":\"You must avoid eating or drinking anything for at least 2 hours before the examination.\"},{\"question\":\"Who is required to have bloodwork completed before a CT scan?\",\"answer\":\"All patients over 60 years old and patients with a history of diabetes are required to have bloodwork done prior to the scan.\"}]","Preparing for your CT Scan - Patient Guide | PDF",1790547104]
