The author contrasts the biblical “virtuous woman” with real-life tasks such as chauffeuring children, managing household needs, and handling unforeseen disruptions. \n99 \n# Preface\n\nFor years I have had pangs of conscience as l periodically read of the \"virtuouswoman“in Proverbs 31.Whereas she bought fields and planted vineyards withher own hands,I've chauffered children, bought groceries, schemed to buycough syrup and enough braces to go around.Whereas her children rose up and\"called her blessed,\"mine merely rose up and called me! \nMothers everywhere will read into this famous and beautiful Scripture passagea likeness of their own daily lives. As the modern-day mother gets caught upin rounds of children's birthday parties, homework in the winter, lifeguardingall summer, she can as truly discover the meaning anew: \nWho can find a virtuous woman?for her price is far above rubies. The heartof her husband doth safely trust in her....She will do him good and notevil all the days of her life. She ...worketh willingly with her hands....She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms....Sheopened her mouth with wisdom;and in her tongue is the law of kindness.Shelooketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idle-ness....Favour is deceitfful, and beauty is vain:but a woman that feareththe Lord, she shall be praised-Proverbs 31:10-31. \n1 \nStrength and honour are her clothing-Proverbs 31:25. \nToday the dogcatcher came! \nJust to think-I almost invited him in for a cup of coffee and a gift of one smallnewly acquired dog that tears hosiery. \nInstead I let him help me teach my trembling son a lesson in acceptance ofresponsibility and the rules of living in society.Somewhere along the line, themotivation behind my child's behavior has to come from a reasoning sourcedeep within himself. \nFor every privilege,an accompanying responsibility walks beside it. \nFor every rule that rears its head,a blessing and reasonableness make itsweet. \nFor the things that come our way-distasteful,unbidden and unchangeable—acceptance is strength, and victory not defeat. \nDear Lord: \nWhile my child is learning to accept the dogcatcher and his rules, help me toaccept the dog. \nHelp me also to accept the wife my son will bring home some day! \nMay I be aware that real strength is not in fighting what we cannot changebut in acceptance. \nAmen \nMany daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all—Proverbs \n31:29. \n\"How about coming over for a cup of coffee.\"It sounded so simple on thetelephone! \n\"Just bring the children to the church nursery during the circle meeting.\"I amcertain the invitation came from someone who had forgotten what it was to'Tust\"organize for departure. \nBottles warmed, diapers, plastic bag,purse,keys,shoes,glasses—\"Whatcan I do to improve my D.P.(departure personality)?” \nStop for one minute and think!Inevitably there willarrive that time when yourpurse will be intact as you prepare to leave for church or the coffee klatsch. What's more, you'll be able,on that great day,to find both of your shoes. \nBut—there will be no little one to ask, every single uninterrupted minute,\"We gonin bye-bye,Mama?Mama,Mama,we gonin bye-bye?\" \nDear Lord: \nDon't let me be blind to the fact that happiness and gentleness in a Mama aremore to be desired than having\"things\"just right!A\"sky-is-blue-and-God-is-in-His-heaven“attitude is what I do so want You to give me.I'd rather havethat than a straight house or even to be on time everywhere. \nAmen","cbCaif5ymEP2UBnO","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaif5ymEP2UBnO","pdf",1696388,40,"English","# Preface\n## Virtuous woman in Proverbs 31\n## Lessons from daily disruptions\n## Prayer for strength and gentleness","[{\"question\":\"What central biblical passage shapes the preface?\",\"answer\":\"The preface is framed by Proverbs 31:10-31, especially the description of the “virtuous woman” and her character traits such as wisdom, kindness, and fear of the Lord.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the author connect motherhood to Proverbs 31?\",\"answer\":\"The author compares the biblical figure’s diligence with modern daily routines—child care, errands, and constant preparations—showing how mothers recognize the passage in their own lives.\"},{\"question\":\"What lesson does the dogcatcher incident illustrate?\",\"answer\":\"The dogcatcher becomes a concrete example of teaching acceptance of responsibility and the social rules of living, emphasizing that motivation must come from deeper within the child.\"}]","Preface - Mothers, Virtuous Woman Reflections - Proverbs 31 | PDF",1790593037,62,{"code":4,"msg":82,"data":99},[100,104,107,111,116,121,125,130,134,137,141],{"id":22,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":101,"show_sort_weight":102,"slug":103},"Story & Novel",90,"story-novel",{"id":26,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":29,"show_sort_weight":105,"slug":106},80,"literature",{"id":33,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":108,"show_sort_weight":109,"slug":110},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":112,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":113,"show_sort_weight":114,"slug":115},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":117,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":118,"show_sort_weight":119,"slug":120},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":122,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":123,"show_sort_weight":91,"slug":124},7,"Healthcare","healthcare",{"id":126,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":127,"show_sort_weight":128,"slug":129},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":55,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":131,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":133},"Religion & Spirituality",20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":132,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":135,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":136},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":138,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":139,"show_sort_weight":138,"slug":140},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":142,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":143,"show_sort_weight":112,"slug":144},19,"General","general"]
