All chapters have been reviewed and revised by the authors and editorial team to provide up-to-date information and concepts. The information in the chapters focuses on the depth expected for a practice-ready, newly graduated pharmacist. Self-assessment questions contain “mark all that apply” responses, as well as other NAPLEX question formats. The authors and editors are aware of the new NAPLEX competencies and exam details effective January 2021 and have been mindful to incorporate these changes in their work. One example is the emphasis on FDA boxed warnings, a component of the 2021 NAPLEX competency statements. \nThis edition also retains many of the features from the 12th edition. The tables that list medications have the top 100 drugs indicated in bold to alert the reader of medicines in frequent use. A summary of a chapter’s concepts, Key Points, should give the reader a quick and ready snapshot of some important points discussed in the chapter. The Key Points section is followed by the Study Guide Checklist that should serve as a guide in preparation for the NAPLEX as part of a self-assessment. The Checklist covers broad areas of information, including concepts and skills that are not necessarily covered fully in The APhA Complete Review for Pharmacy but should be considered in the overall preparation for the exam . This information can be found in comprehensive textbooks and references that are typically used in a pharmacy curriculum and can be easily retrieved, and many are listed at the end of each chapter in the Additional Resources section. Although The APhA Complete Review for Pharmacy is complete in covering key topics, no single reference can fully condense the entire curriculum and body of knowledge into a review. The items in the Checklist should stimulate the reader to seek supplemental information to fill in any gaps in a self-assessment. \nThese enhancements would not have been possible without the talentsand cooperation of the authors. The 13th[LCB5][VJ6] edition includes the work of 13 new and 34 returning authors. All authors have a strong pharmacy tie to the College of Pharmacy at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center at its locations in Knoxville, Memphis, and Nashville. They are past or present faculty members, alumni, fellows, or residents of the College, and many have more than one of those University of Tennessee ties. \nA common core of education and training at the University of Tennessee that has been diversified and complemented through experiences in clinical care, teaching, community outreach, professional service, and research has served as a strong foundation for this publication. \nThe editorial team is aware of the responsibility to bring relevant and contemporary information to readers in their preparation for the NAPLEX. We bring a combined 124 years of experience as educators, clinicians, and scholars to the editorial process. Our efforts have been supported by the staff at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), to whom we owe much gratitude. \nAlthough this edition includes changes, it also is a product of the longstanding support of APhA. The guidance, ideas, and encouragement of Janan Sarwar, PharmD, and Jesse Vineyard, Editorial Director, Books and Digital Publishing, have been invaluable in contributing to this work. The copyeditors and proofreaders of Circle Graphics also have been involved with this publication for several years and bring important items to the attention of authors and editors from their unique point of view. \nWe, the editorial team for TheAPhA Complete Review for Pharmacy, hope you find this publication, either print or digital, to be an asset to your successful preparation for and passing of the NAPLEX. We often have found that by globally reviewing a topic, we gain new insights and understanding that reinforce and build on previous knowled","cbCainwzlEYvm8aN","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainwzlEYvm8aN","pdf",76491,"English","# Preface\n## Edition updates and chapter revisions\n## Study structure: Key Points and Study Guide Checklist\n## Author and editorial acknowledgments","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the 13th edition’s updates?\",\"answer\":\"The edition’s chapters were reviewed and revised to provide current, practice-ready information for newly graduated pharmacists, aligned with updated exam expectations.\"},{\"question\":\"Which exam competencies and effective date does the preface reference?\",\"answer\":\"The preface notes NAPLEX competencies and exam details effective January 2021, and explains that changes were incorporated accordingly.\"},{\"question\":\"What learning elements help readers prepare in this edition?\",\"answer\":\"Key Points provides a quick snapshot of important chapter concepts, followed by a Study Guide Checklist that guides preparation through self-assessment and highlights broader areas to review.\"}]","Preface - 13th Edition | PDF",1789682161]
