It explains key translation conventions such as abbreviations, the use of the divine name Yahweh versus the common rendering “Lord,” and the purpose of italics to clarify added information for understanding and translation. The text then presents specific prayers, including Abraham’s intercession and Musa’s prayer from their respective scriptural sections, with surrounding verse references.","English \nPrayers in the Holy Books \n(Prayers in the Bible) \nEnglish United Kingdom \nCopyright © 2024, Wycli̜e Bible Translators \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. Some of the prophets (PBUT) prayed prayers that we can use ourselves when we pray to God. Here is a selection of them: \nAbbreviations \nPBUH – Peace be upon him PBUT – Peace be upon them HPBUU – His peace be upon us \nThe Divine Name \nThis translation uses the name Yahweh (in the Towrat, Zebbur and the Prophets), which is the name of God revealed to the Prophet Musa (PBUH) . This name is often pronounced 'Lord', and in the Injil that is how both God and Isa Masih are often referred to, simply as 'Lord', rather than using the divine name Yahweh. \nItalics \nThese are used to denote information that has been added to make it easier to understand and translate. If you like, you can omit these ideas in translation, if they do not help your chosen audience. It is always a good idea to look at 2 or more translations when you are translating, and in any case you may already have many of these Scriptures already available in booklet form. Please refer to these booklets. \nProphet Ibrahim (PBUH) \nIbrahim’s (PBUH) prayer is contained in a story about Ibrahim meeting up with three guests, who are simply called ‘men’ in the Hebrew manuscript. This prayer can be found in the Towrat: \n16 When the three men got up to leave, they looked down into the valley toward Sodom city. Ibrahim was walking with them to say “goodbye” to them. 17 Yahweh thought to himself,“It is not right for me to prevent Ibrahim from knowing what I plan to do . 18 Ibrahim’s descendants will become a great and powerful nation. And people of all nations will be blessed because of what I do for him. 19 I have chosen him in order that he will teach his children and their families to obey me and do what is right and fair, and then I will do for Ibrahim what I promised.” 20 So Yahweh said to Ibrahim,“I have heard the terrible things that have been said about the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Their sins are very great. 21 So I will go down now, and I will see if all the terrible things that I have heard are true or not true.” 22 Then the two men turned and started walking toward Sodom. But Yahweh remained, standing in front of Ibrahim. \n23 Ibrahim came closer to him and said,“Will you really destroy righteous people along with wicked ones? 24 What will you do if there are only 50 righteous people in the city? Will you really get rid of \nthem all, and not spare the city for the sake of the 50 righteous people who are in the city? 25 It would certainly not be right for you to do such a thing, to kill righteous people along with wicked ones, and treat righteous people and wicked people the same way. You could not do that, because you, who are the judge of everyone on the earth, will certainly do what is right regarding the people of Sodom!” 26 Yahweh replied,“If I ̊nd 50 righteous people in Sodom, I will spare the whole city for their sake.” 27 Ibrahim replied,“I should not be bold like this and speak to you, God, because I am as worthless as dust and ashes. 28 But what will you do if there are only 45 righteous people? Will you destroy everyone in the whole city because there are only 45 and not 50 righteous people?”Yahweh replied,“I will not destroy it if I ̊nd that there are 45 righteous people.” 29 Ibrahim continued to speak to him like this, saying,“What","cbCaidXexHhAA6iT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaidXexHhAA6iT","pdf",190557,1,34,"English","en",105,"# Introduction\n## Abbreviations\n## The Divine Name\n## Italics\n## Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH)\n## Prophet Musa (PBUH)","[{\"question\":\"Which prophets’ prayers are included in the selection?\",\"answer\":\"The selection includes prayers attributed to Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) and Prophet Musa (PBUH), each presented with scriptural verse references from the Towrat and the Zebbur.\"}]",1784304945,86,{"code":4,"msg":30,"data":31},"ok",{"site_id":24,"language":23,"slug":32,"title":13,"keywords":33,"description":14,"schema_data":34,"social_meta":77,"head_meta":79,"extra_data":81,"updated_unix":27},"prayers-in-the-holy-books-prayers-in-the-bible-introduction-selection-of-biblical-prayers","",{"@graph":35,"@context":76},[36,53,67],{"@type":37,"itemListElement":38},"BreadcrumbList",[39,43,47,50],{"item":40,"name":41,"@type":42,"position":20},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":44,"name":45,"@type":42,"position":46},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":48,"name":12,"@type":42,"position":49},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/religion-spirituality/",3,{"item":51,"name":13,"@type":42,"position":52},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/prayers-in-the-holy-books-prayers-in-the-bible-introduction-selection-of-biblical-prayers/91544/",4,{"url":51,"name":13,"@type":54,"author":55,"headline":13,"publisher":57,"fileFormat":60,"inLanguage":23,"description":14,"dateModified":61,"datePublished":61,"encodingFormat":60,"isAccessibleForFree":62,"interactionStatistic":63},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":56},"Person",{"url":40,"name":58,"@type":59},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-17",true,{"@type":64,"interactionType":65,"userInteractionCount":4},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":66},"ViewAction",{"@type":68,"mainEntity":69},"FAQPage",[70],{"name":71,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":73},"Which prophets’ prayers are included in the selection?","Question",{"text":74,"@type":75},"The selection includes prayers attributed to Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) and Prophet Musa (PBUH), each presented with scriptural verse references from the Towrat and the Zebbur.","Answer","https://schema.org",{"og:url":51,"og:type":78,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":58,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":80,"canonical":51},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":24},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":83},[84,88,92,96,101,106,111,116,119,122,126],{"id":20,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":85,"show_sort_weight":86,"slug":87},"Story & Novel",90,"story-novel",{"id":46,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":89,"show_sort_weight":90,"slug":91},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":52,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":93,"show_sort_weight":94,"slug":95},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":97,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":98,"show_sort_weight":99,"slug":100},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":102,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":103,"show_sort_weight":104,"slug":105},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":107,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":108,"show_sort_weight":109,"slug":110},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":112,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":113,"show_sort_weight":114,"slug":115},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":117,"slug":118},20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":117,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":120,"show_sort_weight":117,"slug":121},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":123,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":124,"show_sort_weight":123,"slug":125},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":127,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":45,"category_name":128,"show_sort_weight":97,"slug":129},19,"General","general"]
