Gill Moran grabbed her gown, pulled back the curtains and peered out into the darkness.‘Oh, my goodness!’  \nA lone car navigated the moorland road, its headlights spotlighting falling snow. On the drive, Richard’s car was wrapped in a white blanket.  \nShe gave him a nudge.‘You’ll need to clear the drive.’  \nTheir home stood at the gateway of the Peak District, Britain’s first National Park, mile upon mile of rolling moorland, craggy hills and gentle valleys.  \nThey lived in Eastmoor, a ribbon of cottages, farms and a couple of pubs, sandwiched between the working-class market town of Chesterfield to the east, and the aristocratic Chatsworth Estate a few miles west.  \nPottery was once the backbone of the local economy but the wheels had stopped turning long ago and the little gritstone factory converted into four dwellings.  \nTo the rear, beyond the farmland, and dry-stone walls, the moors stretched as far as the eye could see. The ever-changing colours charted the calendar – the green shoots of spring, the parched brown of summer, misty autumn golds, and, on this winter ’s dawn, a cold, leaden grey.  \nThat was just about it. Their community. Little had changed for years and they preferred it that way.  \nDownstairs, Gill filled the kettle and switched on the radio.‘The north of England is bracing itself for one of the worst winter storms for years with two days of heavy snow forecast.’  \nSummer had been so ","cbCairHTBw1gzTdw","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairHTBw1gzTdw","pdf",1040750,1,212,"English","en",105,"# Pottery Cottage\n## Author background and research basis\n## Setting: Peak District in 1977\n## Opening scene: January 12th, 7am","[{\"question\":\"Where and when does Pottery Cottage’s true story take place?\",\"answer\":\"The story is set in the Peak District of Derbyshire, England, in 1977, beginning on January 12th at 7am in the upstairs bedroom of Pottery Cottage.\"},{\"question\":\"What sources does the author use to build the account?\",\"answer\":\"The narrative is based on records of actual events, including testimonies, official reports, transcripts of proceedings, witness evidence, police files, newspaper cuttings, and author interviews.\"},{\"question\":\"How is dialogue handled in the book?\",\"answer\":\"Dialogue is recorded from people’s recollections and statements to police;
