andwant to rest.One way to rest is to lie onthe ground.However,in many areas theground is dirty and people usually want torest without becoming dirty.In someareas,rocks,logs and stumps are abundantand people have found that placing theirbuttock on these rocks,logs and stumpsallows them to rest without lying on theground and becoming dirty.People usingthis resting technique often say that they“sit”on the rocks,logs or stumps,or are“sitting,”and the position when theirbuttock is on the rock,log or stump isknown as a sitting position.In some areasthere are very few rocks,logs and stumpsand so humans find it difficult to sit.Thiscan be a particular problem in areas withhomes,where the rocks,logs and stumpsare used to construct the home,and are nolonger available for sitting.  \nEven in areas where rocks,logsand stumps are plentiful,they may not beconcentrated in the locations where peoplewant to sit,such as when they gathertogether as a group around a fire and tellstories.
