Poland is one of the fastest growing, large economies in Europe and now aspires to consolidate its status as a high-income, inclusive, and resilient economy. The country has transitioned from a planned to a market economy, successfully escaping the middle-income-trap1 and achieving substantial economic convergence within the European Union (EU) . Gross domestic product (GDP) growth has averaged 3.6 percent since 19902 and income per capita has reached 78 percent of the EU average in 2024. Looking ahead, Poland’s Development Strategy 20353 presents a comprehensive vision to achieve a new balance between economic competitiveness, social cohesion, and resilience. Key pillars include shifting towards a higher value added, innovative economy, developing critical infrastructure for energy, digital, and transport connectivity, and ensuring balanced regional development. Already the largest market in Central and Eastern Europe, Poland aims to play a stronger role in shaping regional policies and contributing to the global development agenda.
