Knowing how to read and interpret them are essential for planning and undertaking projects successfully. They are also an important means of communication between all parties involved in a building project – they help to ensure everyone has the same understanding of what the finished project is intended to be and how to achieve it. \nPlans, working drawing, and specifications are also needed to: \n→ show compliance with the functional and performance requirements of the Building Code so that a building consent can be obtained under the terms of the Building Act \n→ allow the work to be accurately priced/estimated \n→ allow the work to be correctly constructed as envisaged by the designer → form part of the contractual agreement between the owner and the \nbuilder. \nYou can apply the learning you do for this unit standard when when/if you get the opportunity to Demonstrate knowledge of and create sketches and drawings for BCATS projects (US 24353, 6 credits) and when you need to use project documentation to create cutting lists, complete order forms, and construct your BCATS projects. \n4 22607 Plans & specifications \nHow you will be assessed \nYou need to show your teacher/tutor that you can: \n→ identify plans, working drawings and specifications and describe what they are used for \n→ identify and interpret abbreviations and symbols on plans, working drawings and specifications \n→ identify any preliminary work from plans, working drawings and specifications \n→ use plans, working drawings and specifications to determine the quality and types of materials required. \nYour teacher/tutor will give you a set of plans and specifications to read. You will need to use these to complete a Knowledge Assessment, which your teacher/tutor will mark. \nPlans & specifications 22607 5 \nGlossary of terms \n\n| Term | Meaning |\n| --- | --- |\n| Abbreviations | Shortened versions of words used to identify construction related information and features |\n| Freehand\u003Cbr>sketches | An important, convenient and simple method of communicating information and ideas |\n| Isometric view | A pictorial drawing which shows three faces of an object inclined at 300 |\n| Oblique drawing | A pictorial drawing which shows three faces of an object one face parallel to the plane of projection and the other 2 faces inclined at 450 |\n| Orthographic | An arrangement of views which fully describes the six sides of an object |\n| Perspective drawings | Perspective drawings show an object as it is seen by the human eye and provide a realistic view |\n| Pictorial\u003Cbr>drawings | A drawing method which represents an object as a picture including isometric, oblique and perspective projections |\n| Plans | Aterm used to describe a set of working drawings |\n| Scale drawings | Drawings of objects that are proportionally enlarged or reduced to suit the size of the drawing paper |\n| Specifications | Written in","cbCaiv77xd1OU4Et","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiv77xd1OU4Et","pdf",1412025,16,"English","# Introduction\n## How you will be assessed\n## Glossary of terms\n## Plans, working drawings, and specifications\n## Drawing to scale","[{\"question\":\"What is the main purpose of plans, working drawings, and specifications in BCATS projects?\",\"answer\":\"They provide clear information for a proposed building project so all parties understand what is required, how it will meet requirements, and how it will be constructed.
