The opening editorial explains the purpose of sharing pilot experiences for students, professionals, and recreational flyers across aviation sectors. The issue also outlines article highlights and sections, pairing each magazine feature with a companion podcast for readers who want both to read and listen, including coverage themes like airport ownership, pilot education, safety, and mental health.","WHY A MAGAZINE? \nWell, if you had told me eight years ago I would be creating a magazine out of a podcast I started for fun, I would have called you crazy and probably laughed in your face. But here we are. Eight years, 340-ish episodes later, and countless moments of me asking myself, What on earth am I doing? Why would anyone want to listen to this? \nNow, Iam asking myself what is next for Pilot to Pilot. \nThe only logical answer? START A MAGAZINE-despite my fear of having to write articles. (There is a reason I started a podcast and not a blog.) Though, as captured in a quote I read recently by Susan Jeffers, PhD, I decided: “Feel the fear and do it anyway.” \nSo, here I am writing “Why a Magazine,” and here you are reading“Why a Magazine.” And the best part is that we are here, together, even though I imagine you are thinking,“No one reads magazines anymore.” And, well, you are not wrong. But, like pilots, this magazine is built to be different. There will be articles you want to read written by people you want to hear from in this new format. And, for the OG listeners, don’t worry, the articles will also be accompanied by what I know best: a podcast episode for each. So if you just want to read the article, go for it. Just want to listen to the podcast? Be my guest. (Although I highly recommend you do both because the article and accompanying podcast are designed to compliment each other. \n2 \nNow, who is this magazine for? Like the podcast, Pilot to Pilot aims to support all pilots who fly, from students to professionals and recreational flyers. The magazine will maintain the same standard of genuine discussions with pilots who work in all aviation sectors, from airline captains to bush pilots to everyone in between, to share their experiences of flying. We will do our best to represent aviation in every way that needs to be represented, and we are honored to do it. \nMagazines and aviation content have played a huge role in informing, influencing, and molding multiple generations of pilots. I want to thank Flying, AOPA, EAA, and countless other companies that have played a massive part in this. Without those organizations, aviation and, specifically, general aviation would look very different. So here it goes, a first take at creating something to be read, listened to, and shared. Here we are, charting the next chapter, together. \nThank you for giving this magazine a chance, and I hope you enjoy! \nHappy Flying, \nJustin Siems \nCreator, Pilot to Pilot Podcast (est. 2017) & Magazine (est. 2025) \nSTREAMLINE YOUR TERMINAL PROCEDURES \nNEW GARMIN SMARTCHARTS \nFollow simplified, dynamic departures, arrivals, approaches and airport diagrams optimized for your flight.
