The 2022 vintage followed an unusually dry and hot season, creating concentrated, full-bodied wines with good acidity. This smell has a name: Petrichor. The word comes from the Greek petros, which means “stone”, and from the term ichor,“the fluid that passes through the veins of the Gods.” A true tribute to the senses. Limited Edition of 1912 bottles.
Denomination DOC Alentejo
Viticultural Year
The year 2022 will be remembered as an abnormally dry and hot year. Winter was marked by low levels of precipitation. Spring was hot and dry, with the first heat stroke in mid-May, which led to successive growth stops throughout the vegetative cycle. In the months of July and August temperatures were higher than normal, and together with the scarcity of water available in the soil, conditioned the normal vegetative development of the plants and the growth of berries. A very challenging year for both winegrowers and winemakers. The wines are concentrated and full bodied, perhaps lacking some freshness.
Grape Varieties Arinto and Verdelho
Harvest
The grapes are handpicked early in the morning to small cases of 15 kg to preserve their freshness and are then cooled in a cold chamber before being vinified.
Vinification
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are carefully selected on the sorting table, then they are de-stemmed, gently crushed and transferred to 3000 liter oval cement vats, where alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. This is followed by postfermentation maceration for seven months.
Tasting notes
Wine with light amber color. It evokes the memory of the smell of rain falling on dry soil., of cut grass and orange peel. A gastronomic wine, showing good acidity and of tannins from contact with the lees.
| Vineyard Plantation 2003
Bottling May 2022 | Altitude 320 metres
Alcohol 12% | Solar Exposure E-W
Analytical Data Total Acidity: 5,6 gr/L
pH: 3,05
Residual Sugar: < 4 gr/L | Soils
Schist
Best Served 14-16º C | Vineyard Trellis System Bilateral cord |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |

BE RESPONSIBLE.
