This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates fecal immunochemical tests (FITs) for detecting advanced colorectal neoplasms (ACRN) and colorectal cancer (CRC) in individuals aged 40–49 versus an average-risk group of 50 years or older. Ten studies (664,159 FITs) were included. Results show FIT positivity of 4.9% in the younger group and 7.3% in the average-risk group, with higher ACRN/CRC risks in FIT-positive younger participants. The study concludes that FIT-based detection rates are acceptable for ages 40–49 and that ACRN yield may be similar for 45–49 and 50–59, supporting further prospective and cost-effectiveness research.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":35,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/healthcare/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/performance-of-the-fecal-immunochemical-test-in-detecting-advanced-colorectal-neoplasms-and-colorectal-cancers-in-people-aged-4049-years-a-systematic-review-and-meta-analysis/382470/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/performance-of-the-fecal-immunochemical-test-in-detecting-advanced-colorectal-neoplasms-and-colorectal-cancers-in-people-aged-4049-years-a-systematic-review-and-meta-analysis/382470.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Margaret","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-24","2026-09-24",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":29},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"What screening strategy does the study evaluate for people aged 40–49?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"It evaluates fecal immunochemical tests (FIT) as a screening approach to detect advanced colorectal neoplasms and colorectal cancer in individuals aged 40–49.","Answer",{"name":115,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":116},"How many studies and FIT tests were included in the meta-analysis?",{"text":117,"@type":113},"Ten studies were included, totaling 664,159 FIT tests.",{"name":119,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":120},"What do the findings say about FIT-positive individuals in the 40–49 group?",{"text":121,"@type":113},"FIT-positive individuals aged 40–49 had significantly higher odds of advanced colorectal neoplasms and colorectal cancer than the average-risk group, regardless of FIT results.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":124,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":126,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":128,"site_id":62},382470,1790696519,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":131},{"doc_id":128,"user_id":132,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":133,"doc_module":4,"category_id":34,"category_name":35,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":134,"file_id":135,"file_url":136,"file_type":137,"file_size":138,"view_count":29,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":139,"language":140,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":141,"faqs":142,"seo_title":143,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":144,"read_time":145},137451207643,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_3d24733baf745e90a7e4bdd5f77d97b2","cancers \nSystematic Review \nPerformance of the Fecal Immunochemical Test in Detecting Advanced Colorectal Neoplasms and Colorectal Cancersin People Aged 40–49 Years: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis \nJen-Hao Yeh 1,2,3, Cheng-Hao Tseng 4, Wen-Lun Wang 4, Chih-I Chen 5, Yu-Peng Liu 3,6, Yi-Chia Lee 7, Jaw-Yuan Wang 3,8,9,10,11, *,† and Yu-Ching Lin 12, *,† \nCitation: Yeh, J.-H.; Tseng, C.-H.; Wang, W.-L.; Chen, C.-I.; Liu, Y.-P.; Lee, Y.-C.; Wang, J.-Y.; Lin, Y.-C. Although current guidelines recommend colorectal cancer screening should be initiated at age 45 instead of 50, the optimal approach of colorectal cancer screening is not clear. This article investigates the efficacy of fecal immunochemical test (FIT), which detects occult blood in stool, in predicting advanced colorectal polyps and tumors among people aged 40–49 . The findings suggest FIT is useful to identify such people with high risk to have advanced colorectal lesions. Hence, FIT may be considered as the first-line screening tool for these people, and further comparative study between FIT and colonosco","cbCaimXqKk8aRA6z","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimXqKk8aRA6z","pdf",1826084,11,"English","# Introduction\n# Methods\n# Results\n## Detection rates and positivity by age group\n## Risk estimates for ACRN and CRC\n# Conclusion","[{\"question\":\"What screening strategy does the study evaluate for people aged 40–49?\",\"answer\":\"It evaluates fecal immunochemical tests (FIT) as a screening approach to detect advanced colorectal neoplasms and colorectal cancer in individuals aged 40–49.\"},{\"question\":\"How many studies and FIT tests were included in the meta-analysis?\",\"answer\":\"Ten studies were included, totaling 664,159 FIT tests.\"},{\"question\":\"What do the findings say about FIT-positive individuals in the 40–49 group?\",\"answer\":\"FIT-positive individuals aged 40–49 had significantly higher odds of advanced colorectal neoplasms and colorectal cancer than the average-risk group, regardless of FIT results.\"}]","Performance of the Fecal Immunochemical Test in Detecting Advanced Colorectal Neoplasms and Colorectal Cancers in People Aged 40–49 Years - A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis | PDF",1790250649,28]
