It uses the example of 36% to demonstrate the steps involved. To convert a percentage to a fraction, the percentage value is placed over 100 and then simplified by dividing both the numerator and the denominator by common factors. For 36%, this results in 18/50 and then further simplifies to 9/25. To convert a percentage to a decimal, two methods are presented: using a place value grid where the last digit of the percentage is placed in the hundredths column, or by dividing the percentage by 100. Both methods yield 0.36 for 36%. The transcript encourages viewers to pause the video and practice converting other percentages and invites them to seek further assistance or examples via email, website, or in person at the library. We have 36% . Percent means out of 100 so turning it into a fraction is simple. We put 36 out of 100. This is okay as a fraction but its better to simplify. Both the numerator and the denominator are divisible by 2. The fraction becomes 18 over 50. We can half both numbers again and get 9 over 25. \nTo get the decimal, we have 2 options. One way, is to use a place value grid. Take 36 over 100. The last digit needs to be in the hundredths column because our fraction is over 100. Work backwards, adding zeros where necessary. The second option is to divide the percentage by 100. Both ways give us 0.36. \nPause the video and try converting these percentages into fractions and decimals. For further examples and explanation, please contact us by email, through our website or come visit us in the library.","cbCaijTdXRJv9rS0","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijTdXRJv9rS0","pdf",155766,"English","# Converting Percentages to Fractions and Decimals\n## Video Transcript","[{\"question\":\"How do you convert a percentage to a fraction?\",\"answer\":\"To convert a percentage to a fraction, place the percentage value over 100 and then simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the methods for converting a percentage to a decimal?\",\"answer\":\"There are two common methods: using a place value grid by placing the percentage's last digit in the hundredths column, or by directly dividing the percentage by 100.\"},{\"question\":\"What does 36% convert to as a simplified fraction and a decimal?\",\"answer\":\"36% converts to the simplified fraction 9/25 and the decimal 0.36.\"}]","Percentages to Decimals to Fractions | PDF",1789454255]
