their attacks on the first chap-ter devoted to the strike on the Pentagon.Lackingany arguments to defend the official version,theycalled into question the credibility and sincerity ofthe author,and then the intelligence of readers.  \nThe Big Lie contented itself with pointing outthe physical impossibility of the crash of a Boeing757 on the Pentagon without explaining the exactnature of the attack.It drew no political interpretationfrom the facts.In inviting citizens to a critical reading  \nof subsequent official statements,it limited itself tounderlining the fact that the government of the Uni-ted States had begun to lie from the morning of 11September.  \nWith the help of our readers and certain of ourjournalist colleagues,who transmitted documents andtheir own reflections to us,we
