The region’s harsh conditions, dried cracked land, and brutal climate shape survival and travel, while vast crater portals connect Pazunia to other Abyss layers and even the Nine Hells. Its strategic role in the Blood War makes it a key staging ground despite being comparatively less inhospitable, attracting merchants, cultists, and adventurers.","Thankyou to Ashley Meier for being my editor on this work and Jon \"Dice Lord \" Schroeder for all his work balancing the monsters. Wicked birds of all shapes and sizes glide through the sky, nesting in rocky outcroppings that tower over the arid earth. Craters mar the land, forming portals that connect Pazunia with most of the rest of the \nAbyss. The River Styx (DMG 58) winds through the terrain connecting the Abyss to the other evil planes. It also ferries fighters to the unending Blood War (MToF 5-8). Above all others roosts Pazuzu, demon prince of the sky, who watches over Pazunia. Despite the harshness of the region, it is the central hub of the Abyss, attracting merchants, cultists, and adventurers seeking fortune and power. \nPazunia is the first layer of the Abyss. This is where most chaotic evil souls first arrive upon their deaths. They are usually transformed into horrible manes (MM 60), the lowest wretches in the demonic hierarchy. From there, powerful demons hunt these fresh souls to press into service for their vile masters, or force them into service in the Blood War, or simply kill them for the thrill of killing. \nThese fresh souls and easy means of transportation make Pazunia one of the most important staging grounds for the Blood War, the endless conflict with devils and their ilk. It also directly connects to the Nine Hells, where the war usually rages. Despite all of this, it is one of the least inhospitable places in the Abyss. Many strange and foul travelers frequently come through here for a vast variety of purposes. \nThe land in Pazunia is dried and cracked, as though suffering an eternal drought. Any water spilled here is consumed by the earth. The sun beats down unceasingly, keeping temperatures at roughly 100 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. \nThe flat expanse is interrupted by crude, rocky towers that jut into the sky. These range in size from about 10 feet tall to those that soar thousands of feet in the air. Some are wider, but many are narrow and precarious, appearing to be ready to collapse under their own weight at any moment. \nThe landscape is marred with countless massive craters that hol","cbCaiueUwn0p7D3v","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiueUwn0p7D3v","pdf",2301453,"English","en",105,"# Credits and Copyright Notice\n## Table of Contents\n# Setting: Pazunia\n## Landscape and Climate\n## Portals and Travel\n## Iron Fortresses\n## Connections to Other Planes\n# Aldinach's Egg","[{\"question\":\"What is Pazunia in the Abyss?\",\"answer\":\"Pazunia is the first layer of the Abyss, where most chaotic evil souls arrive after death and are typically transformed into horrible manes.\"},{\"question\":\"How do travelers move between layers in Pazunia?\",\"answer\":\"Travel relies mainly on massive craters that hold portals connecting Pazunia to most other layers, including two-way and one-way portals.\"},{\"question\":\"Why is Pazunia important to the Blood War?\",\"answer\":\"Pazunia serves as a major staging ground for the Blood War because it provides fresh souls and straightforward transportation between the Abyss and related planes.\"}]","Pazunia - Dungeons & Dragons/Abyss Setting Description | PDF",1791237598,{"code":4,"msg":80,"data":81},"ok",{"site_id":74,"language":73,"slug":82,"title":65,"keywords":83,"description":66,"schema_data":84,"social_meta":138,"head_meta":140,"extra_data":142,"updated_unix":143},"pazunia-dungeons-dragonsabyss-setting-description","",{"@graph":85,"@context":137},[86,100,120],{"@type":87,"itemListElement":88},"BreadcrumbList",[89,93,95,98],{"item":90,"name":91,"@type":92,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":94,"name":9,"@type":92,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":96,"name":45,"@type":92,"position":97},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/religion-spirituality/",3,{"item":99,"name":65,"@type":92,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/pazunia-dungeons-dragonsabyss-setting-description/509861/",{"url":99,"name":65,"@type":101,"image":102,"author":107,"headline":65,"publisher":109,"fileFormat":112,"inLanguage":73,"description":66,"dateModified":113,"datePublished":114,"encodingFormat":112,"isAccessibleForFree":115,"interactionStatistic":116},"DigitalDocument",{"url":103,"@type":104,"width":105,"height":106},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/pazunia-dungeons-dragonsabyss-setting-description/509861.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":63,"@type":108},"Person",{"url":90,"name":110,"@type":111},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-16","2026-10-05",true,{"@type":117,"interactionType":118,"userInteractionCount":29},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":119},"ViewAction",{"@type":121,"mainEntity":122},"FAQPage",[123,129,133],{"name":124,"@type":125,"acceptedAnswer":126},"What is Pazunia in the Abyss?","Question",{"text":127,"@type":128},"Pazunia is the first layer of the Abyss, where most chaotic evil souls arrive after death and are typically transformed into horrible manes.","Answer",{"name":130,"@type":125,"acceptedAnswer":131},"How do travelers move between layers in Pazunia?",{"text":132,"@type":128},"Travel relies mainly on massive craters that hold portals connecting Pazunia to most other layers, including two-way and one-way portals.",{"name":134,"@type":125,"acceptedAnswer":135},"Why is Pazunia important to the Blood War?",{"text":136,"@type":128},"Pazunia serves as a major staging ground for the Blood War because it provides fresh souls and straightforward transportation between the Abyss and related planes.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":99,"og:type":139,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":110,"og:description":66},"article",{"robots":141,"canonical":99},"index,follow",{"doc_id":61,"site_id":74},1791519032]
