Additional information about your procedure, including your arrival time and assigned colonoscopy prep, is available on your patient portal. If you have any questions or are having difficulty accessing your information, please call us at 612-871-1145. \nPurchasing Prep Supplies \nStandard MiraLAX Prep Kits can be purchased on our website, or picked up at one of our 9 \nconvenient Twin Cities locations. Kits are NOT available for purchase at our Hudson, WI. Location. \nSupplies are also available for purchase at most major retailers (Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Hy-Vee, Cub Foods, etc.) \nShopping Tips: \n• Double check your Dulcolax (bisacodyl) is a laxative in pill form. Suppositories and/or stool softeners are not acceptable substitutes. \n• It’s easiest to purchase the 8.3oz size of MiraLAX. If you have a larger container, you’ll need to use 14 capfuls (measured up to the line inside the cap) in your MiraLAX/Gatorade mixture. \n• Simethicone is available in many forms, including chewable, softgels, tablets and liquid. Any form is acceptable. Purchase enough simethicone to take 240-250mg. \nPrescription Preps \nSome colonoscopy preps require a prescription and will need to be picked up from your local pharmacy. If you requested a prescription prep or to speak to a nurse about prep options during scheduling, they will call you approximately 30 days from your procedure date to discuss your options. \nThe standard prep using MiraLAX + Gatorade is one of our easiest and most affordable options, even for those who have had weight loss surgery or diabetes. \nIf you are interested in an alternative prescription prep, you can learn more on our website and call our office to speak with a nurse and discuss. \nNOTE: Prescription preps can be expensive and may not be covered by insurance. We recommend checking with your insurance company or visiting [GoodRx.com](GoodRx.com) to compare costs. \nCompleting your Colonoscopy Prep \nStop iron + fiber supplementation 7 days before your procedure. Both can interfere with the quality of your prep. If you forgot or are unable to stop these supplements due to a medical condition, please call our office to discuss. \nColon emptying tips \n• Drink at least 64 fl. oz. of fluid a day to prevent dehydration. \n• Stay near a toilet because you will have diarrhea. \n• Even if you are sitting on the toilet, keep drinking the mixture every 15 minutes. \n• If you feel nauseous or vomit, rinse your mouth with water, take a 15 to 30-minute break and then keep drinking the mixture. \n• If you have had nausea or vomiting with previous colonoscopy preps or if you think you will have an issue, start earlier and go slower with the prep. For example, start prep at 3:00pm and drink the mixture every 20-30 minutes. \n• You will be uncomfortable until the stool has emptied from your colon (in about 2-4 hours) . \n• You may feel cold or have chills. \n• Allow extra time to get to your procedure as you may need to stop and use a restroom along the way. You may want to wear disposable underwear. \nMagnesium citrate is an essential part of your colon cleanse. Make sure yours is clear – there should be no red coloring or white particulate in your solution. \n• If you’re using the powder packet version, make sure to mix in a glass container. Mixing in a plastic cup may interfere with proper mixing and dissolving. \n• Milk of magnesia is not a substitute for magnesium citrate. \nElectrolyte Beverages \nAn electrolyte beverage is an important component of a successful cleanout in preparation for your procedure. MNGI recommends using one of the following during your colonoscopy prep: \n\n| Gatorade | Powerade | Pedialyte | Liquid IV | Propel |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n\nOther electrolyte drinks, such as Nuun or LMNT, can contain higher levels of sodium and/or magnesium and are not recommended for use in hig","cbCaie9PF2rbbKNW","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaie9PF2rbbKNW","pdf",138336,"English","# Preparing for a Colonoscopy\n## Purchasing Prep Supplies\n## Prescription Preps\n## Completing your Colonoscopy Prep\n## Colon emptying tips\n## Electrolyte Beverages\n## Experiencing Nausea\n## Clear Liquids\n## Am I cleaned out enough?\n## Modifying Prep Regimens","[{\"question\":\"Where can I find the detailed colonoscopy prep instructions and my procedure-specific details?\",\"answer\":\"Colonoscopy Prep Instructions are available on the provider’s website.
