Media attention, \nbullying prevention and intervention literature, laws, and policies continuously \nemphasize the significance of traditional bullying and cyberbullying in the United States and globally (Craig et al., 2009; Scherman, 2020). Destructive behavioral, \npsychological, and educational consequences for youth include poor academic \nachievement, mental health concerns, suicidality, and school violence shootings \nwhich are linked to bullying victimization, perpetration, and witnessing \n(Bradshaw, 2015; Holt et al., 2009; Hornby, 2016; Midgett & Doumas, 2019; \nShapka & Law, 2013) . These prolific consequences can encompass the entire \nlifespan from early childhood (Saracho, 2017; Levine & Tamburrino, 2014) to \nhigh school (Hornby, 2016; Riffle et al., 2022; Rigby, 2008) and could continue \ninto adulthood (Hornby, 2016; Farrell & Vaillancourt, 2021; Trépanier et al., \n2015) . \nAccording to the 2020-21 School Survey on Crime and Safety (SSOCS) \nconducted by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), 15% of \nstudents ages 12-18 reported being victims of bullying at school, and 16% \nreported being cyberbullied (Irwin et al., 2022). The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) reported that 14% of students in grades 9-12 were bullied at school in the \npast 12 mo","cbCaikMW9n8hBERi","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikMW9n8hBERi","pdf",347217,34,"English","# Parent Education and Bullying Prevention\n## Bullying impacts in school communities\n## Prevalence and reporting patterns\n## Need for parent-focused definitions and training\n## Recommendations and resources for anti-bullying initiatives","[{\"question\":\"Why is parent education considered important for bullying prevention and intervention in school communities?\",\"answer\":\"Because bullying affects students’ academic, socio-emotional, and developmental outcomes, and parent engagement is described as equally critical to prevention and intervention.
