Grade 9learners to assist them in making informed subject choices for their Grade 10-12 years.The DAT is a widelyrecognised assessment tool designed to evaluate learners'abilities in various areas and provide insight intotheir potential strengths and interests.The test willbe administered online at the school on the followingdates:  \nWednesday 10 July(14:00-17:00):Afrikaans assessment  \nThursday 11 July(14:00-17:00):English assessment  \n## Purpose of the DAT\n\nThe primary objective of the DAT is to assess the aptitude of each learner,which refers to their potential todevelop specific skills with the necessary training and education.Aptitude plays an important part inacademic performance in a subject.However,personal interest and academic marks are equally importantwhen making subject choices.The results of the DAT,combined with learners'current academicperformance,interests and motivation,will aid in making well-informed subject and future career choices.  \n## Components of the DAT\n\nThe DAT consists of multiple subtests,each evaluating different abilities.Below is a summary of the subtestsincluded in the DAT:  \n1.Vocabulary:Measures understanding of word meanings.  \n2.Verbal Reasoning:Assesses logical reasoning and general comprehension using language.  \n3.Non-Verbal Reasoning:Evaluates logical reasoning with designs and shapes.  \n4.Numerical information that has been read.  \n## Fields of Study\n\nThe scores in each field are derived from the test results and indicate the learner's aptitude in that particularfield of study.This includes:  \n1.Academic:General academic potential.  \n2.Commercial/Clerical:Skills suited for business and clerical work.  \n3.Scientific:Aptitude for science-related subjects.  \n4.Mathematics:Give guidance on the choice between Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.  \n5.Technical:Skills for technical fields,such as civil,mechanical,or electrical engineering.  \n6.Agricultural:Skills suited for agricultural studies,especially Agricultural Sciences.  \n## Recommended Subjects\n\nBased on the derived scores,learners willreceive recommendations for subjects in which they are likely toexcel.These recommendations cover a range of fields,including:  \n1.Languages  \n2.Sciences  \n3.Mathematics  \n4.Business Studies  \n5.Information Technology  \n6.Engineering Graphics and Design  \n7.Dramatic
