Namely Korean/Korean-American. During the process of writing Paralyze, I drew upon already obtained knowledge, as well as diving deeper to educate myself where necessary. I also discussed certain aspects with a personal friend of Korean descent who shared with me their own experience with the Korean language in a 'predominantly English speaking' country, as well as their insights on growing up as a first generation child of Korean born parents.  \nI would like to make it clear that I am in no way claiming to be an expert, nor am I suggesting that any person's journey is the same as another ’s.  \nAs always, it is my goal to be the best storyteller I can be, and thus acknowledge that the human experience involves deep and complex emotions and interpersonal relationships that are universal. It is also common to refer to a person by their full name, even when you are close/familiar with them. Wootek is Korean-American, but both his parents were born in Korea, and they choose to hold onto the traditional name order within their family.
