Although we had every intention of transitioning back to Plan 1 of our Pandas Return to School Plan with Traditional Learning @ NDA beginning on Saturday, November 21, it looks as though we are going to need to pivot as we have done so many times before in 2020. Rest assured, Dr. Koehl and I will consult with the Diocese and communicate our plan moving forward to you by the end of this week. In the meantime, we continue with Remote Learning @ NDA through Friday as planned. \nI do have some good news to share with you today. Our students and faculty members have reported a very smooth transition to Plan 3 of our Pandas Return to School Plan with Remote Learning @ NDA-full remote learning for all students. We invested a great deal of time over the summer developing a more manageble remote learning schedule and it seems to be working. Plan 3 has been well received by our entire community this past week. As much as I love having our students and teachers engaged in education in person at NDA, I can’t help but feel blessed to have the technology and plans in place at Notre Dame Academy to undertake remote learning so successfully when necessary. \nIt has been a long and difficult year for all of us in so many different ways. It’s important for us to remember and to remind each other what is at the core of our beliefs as children of God. Our faith teaches us that even in the darkness, God is there for us. He is everpresent lifting us up and giving us hope. As people of faith, we trust in the good God and we in turn find grace and joy in lifting one another up. \nI have always liked the saying,“We are called to be beacons of hope to a world in need.” I am truly encouraged by the beacons of hope among us: our students, parents, faculty and staff. As the world has been in tremendous need over the past nine months, I have seen countless examples of our community remembering our calling to bring light into the world. I am very proud of our students and the maturity and courage with which they are handling the challenges of living through a global pandemic. They have been flexible, adaptable and creative. The resilient young women of Notre Dame Academy continue to amaze and inspire me each and every day. \nPlease continue to encourage your daughter to follow COVID-19 mitigation strategies. We care about our students and whether they are learning in person or remotely, we want them to be safe and healthy. At NDA, we are a community of believers and I believe that we will get through this difficult time and together we will come out stronger and wiser than before. We appreciate your continued support of NDA and want you to know that we are there to support your daughter and your family too. \nIn Notre Dame, \nMr. Jack VonHandorf \nNDA COVID-19 INFORMATION t \nREMEMBER, the NDA COVID-19 Information page on the website has many important resources for parents and students: \n• Pandas Return to Campus Plan \n• Question Submission Link \n• NDA COVID-19 Response Chart for Students and Staff \n• and more! \nFROM THE \nSCHOOL NURSE \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE t \nIMPORTANT REMINDERS: \n• Please keep NDA updated on any COVID-19 related issues involving your family.
