The first thing you should know is that everything that is underlined in this PDF is a link to a recipe. \nIf you’ve followed me long enough, you might know that when I fell pregnant with my son 16 years ago, I was a vegan . Soon after that, I decided to add dairy, eggs, and seafood to my diet. We were pescatarian for the first two years of his life until my second child developed an anaphylactic allergy to fish and seafood at the age of one . \nI was then faced with the decision to raise my children completely vegetarian or to start adding meat to our diet. After more research about the link between gut health and allergies, we decided to eat meat in moderation . I have followed many of the principles from the classic: Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon Morell, but with a less rigid approach (e.g., we drink pasteurized milk) . We eat somewhat seasonally but aren’t perfectionists about it, especially considering we live in such a northern climate and would otherwise be eating potatoes, apples and preserved veggies and dried grains + legumes for more than half the year! \nWe now purchase the most ethically raised and butchered meats we can find and afford and are lucky enough to raise some of our own food (chickens, pigs, and turkeys) when we have the capacity on our little hobby farm . We have milked our own goats in the past and keep a flourishing garden each summer . \nMost of the time, I’m ordering groceries online and having them delivered to our doorstep to free up my time for other things I love and enjoy! \nOver the years, we have navigated mild digestive issues and allergies in both adults and children in our family. We have played with phases of eating minimal gluten, soaking grains and the GAPS diet. We tend to avoid vegetable oils, but for the most part, we eat everything. \nThat said, we cook most (but not all) things, including treats, from scratch. The more I parent and human (both verbs) the more I can see how much our mental and emotional health plays into digestion just as much as the actual foods we eat do . \nOur food philosophy throughline is also a core family value: \nWe concentrate on consuming real, whole foods with a balance of macronutrients and plenty of plant diversity . \nWe get a takeaway dinner about once every 2 weeks on a Friday. In the Autumn I take the pressure cooker and casserole dishes out and we eat a lot more stews and soups . Below you’ll find a list of seasonal foods categorized by macros, but I tried to be very generalized with these ideas because “eating seasonally” varies drastically depending on where you live! \nMeal planning is how I manage and organize feeding a hungry family of six without spending hours and hours in the kitchen . \nIt’s also how I make sure that I am taking deep care of my own body, fuelling my very active lifestyle and getting enough calories throughout the day. \nParents, especially mothers, have a tendency to put themselves last and meals are no exception to this poor habit. We skip breakfast, snack on random things for lunch and are often not that hungry at dinner when stress is high and children are tired. To sit down and enjoy a satisfying, balanced and beautiful meal sounds like a pipedream to too many Moms . \nI want this seasonal guide to feel like a blessing from a supportive best friend. It’s chock full of ideas, suggestions, and resources, but it leaves enough room for your own \npersonal food philosophy, busy lifestyle, and schedule . \nOUR FAMILY FOOD VALUES \n(sample) \ngetting 30 grams of \nfibre everyday eating ethically raised and \nslaughtered animals \neating enough protein \neating at least 40 plant species a week \nenjoying fun food in moderation \nwithout guilt or shame \nMEAL \nPLANNING TIPS \nGather and peruse cookbooks over the weekend (or just use this eZin","cbCaia2TfdjyCfY8","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaia2TfdjyCfY8","pdf",3012637,25,"English","# Meal planning principles\n## Family food values\n## Meal planning tips","[{\"question\":\"What dietary approach does the author follow now, and why did it change over time?\",\"answer\":\"The author focuses on real, whole foods and balances macronutrients and plant diversity.
