Rose of Lima Parish in Gaithersburg recently held their Faith and History Summer Camp for children ages \nthree through twelve. The parish evolved the camp from an adaptation of the published Christian VBS program Marketplace 29. This year seventy-nine campers participated in activities from Maryland of the 1800’s while learning about the Nicene Creed. For instance: campers visited a can- \ndle shop to make candles while discussing the Holy Trinity which was modeled by the wax, scent, and color of the candles. Each day they learned about the lives of prominent Catholics of the area through skitsand songs. The parish would like to thank and acknowledge the camp staff, which includes several teenagers, for volunteering their time to make this year’s camp a fun and enriching success. \nNext year the camp will be going worldwide as they head to the Second Vatican Council of the 1960’s. Students will learn about the council and the authority of the Church, the call to participate in the mass, and the call to further love one’s neighbor through charitable works. \nFor more information please email stro[sesummercamp@gmail.com](sesummercamp@gmail.com). \nthe Academy of the Holy Cross Hails New President \nKathleen Ryan Prebble became \nPresident of The Academy of the Holy Cross on July 1. \nthe Academy \nof the Holy \nCross wel \ncomed Kathleen Ryan Prebble as its new President on July 1.
