This guide is intended to help the accompanying rider in carrying out that task. \nEXPERIENCE \nREQUIRED \n4 \nA \nn accompanying rider must be an experienced motorcycle operator. The holder of a probationary licence isnot allowed to act as accompanying \nrider. An accompanying rider must \nhave held a valid driver's licence of the appropriate class (6A, 6B or 6C) for at least two years. \nAs an experienced motorcycle operator, you knowhow much more difficult it is to maintain balance with a passenger on board; at no time is a learner allowed to ride with a passenger. This means you must ride a separate bike. \nThe accompanying rider must master operating techniques so as to be in a position to give assistance and advice-to only one learner at a time. \nACCOMPANYING RIDER'S ROLE \nA \nccompanied riding is the best way to learn how to operate a motor- \ncycle because it allows the learner to gain experience under supervision. Your task is to help perfect motorcycling techniques and manoeuvres learned ina driving school course while obeying traffic rules, and to provide your learner with opportunities to practise. \nMake sure the learner progresses through situations that he or she is ready to handle. Encourage good habits and give pointers where called for. You want your learner to develop a responsible attitude toward motorcycling, \nand to achieve this you need to give him or her all the useful information needed for the safe operation of this type of vehicle. \nA class 6A learner's licence authorizes motorcycle operation on the road with an accompanying rider on another bike; the minimum period of accompanied riding is eleven months. \nIt should be remembered that a class 6Rlearner's licence authorizes motorcycle operation practice only as part of a driving course given in a school recognized by the Association québecoise du transport et des routes (AQTR) . \n6 \nREFRESH YOUR KNOWLEDGE \nTo get ready to take on the role of accompanying rider, read Operating a Motorcycle and the Driver's Handbook , available at Publications du Québec and in bookstores. \nKNOWING \nYOUR LEARNER \nTake some time to get \nto know the learner's awareness of the safety aspects of motorcycle riding. It is strong- \nly recommended that you discuss risk factors for accidents such as: \n7 \nPersonal Factors \n• Lack of experience \n• Fatigue \n• Impatience \n• Emotions \n• Over-confidence \n• Thrill-seeking \n• Use of alcohol, legal or illegal drugs and medication \nExternal Factors \n• Influence of friends \n• Busy schedule \n• Unfamiliar routes \n• Behaviour of other road users \n• Weather \n• Road conditions \n• Visibility \n8 \nThe purpose of such \na discussion is to find out the learner's views on safety before taking to the road, so you will be better able to serve as guide and offer appropriate advice. \n2 Before taking to the road \nTHE RIGHT EQUIPMENT \nFOR THE BEST PROTECTION \nMotorcyclists can \nnot rely on the \nsafety features \nof a car, and are therefore more likely tobe injure","cbCailhKpNXUVReZ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailhKpNXUVReZ","pdf",2351575,36,"English","# Table of Contents\n## 1.
