For some it provides a valuable form of recreation and relaxation, contributing to overall good physical, emotional and mental health. For others, it can serve as the primary means of transportation in all aspects of life and culture, supporting the delivery of vital health and social programs, as well as the means to earn a living and provide for one’s family. \nSafety should be a top priority for all off-road vehicle users, regardless of purpose. Safety is the responsibility of every off-road user, as well as the collective effort of those who enforce and uphold the legislation. It is through stronger safety requirements and updated legislation that we can help ensure ourselves, our children, partners, friends and family enjoy using off-road vehicles without incident. \nOn May 19, 2022, the new Off-Road Vehicles Act and Regulations came into effect, following extensive consultations with Indigenous governments and organizations, a variety of experts in safety, health and enforcement, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The new legislation brings into effect several additional safety features, including the requirement for mandatory training for operators who are under the age of 16 years, those who are registering an off-road vehicle with Motor Registration for the first time, or as a condition of registration reinstatement, in those cases where registration has been suspended or cancelled. The new legislation strengthens and modernizes safety requirements and aligns with practices in other jurisdictions throughout Canada. Provisions of the Off-Road Vehicles Act and Regulations related to training did not come into force at the time, pending development of this training module. \nOff-Road Vehicles Handboo","cbCaifvs4UKeqOnu","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifvs4UKeqOnu","pdf",10523759,46,"English","# Introduction\n## Legislation\n## Types of off-road vehicles\n## Operator safety training\n## Travelling on highways and roadways\n## Highway use\n## Age limits and supervision\n## Seatbelt use\n## Mandatory helmet use\n## Both feet references\n## Approved areas\n## Operating within a municipality\n## Safe riding\n## Other restrictions","[{\"question\":\"What does the handbook emphasize as the top priority for off-road vehicle users?\",\"answer\":\"Safety is presented as the top priority for all off-road vehicle users, regardless of purpose, and as a shared responsibility across operators and those enforcing legislation.\"},{\"question\":\"What changed with the new Off-Road Vehicles Act and Regulations?\",\"answer\":\"The new Act and Regulations replaced older legislation and modernized safety requirements, adding new types of off-road vehicles and updated safety practices.
