2022-2025 April 2024 update \nTable of contents \n3 Welcome \n4 About Oak \n6 Oak's foundations and Oak today \n8 Oak on a page \n9 Theory of change \n10 Strategic goals \n14 How we deliver our purpose \n17 Our governance \nWelcome to Oak National Academy \nWe are delighted to introduce you to the final update of Oak National Academy’s three-year strategy, outlining the scale of our ambition to support schools, teachers and pupils across the country. \nWe began working on this strategy in 2022 when Oak became an independent public body with the purpose of improving pupil outcomes and closing the disadvantage gap by supporting teachers to teach, and pupils to access, a high-quality curriculum. \nSince then, we’ve been working with curriculum partners to release thousands of new resources, evolving our product to better support teachers, and growing our user base. \nIn the final year of our current strategy, we’ll continue to support and improve our free, accessible, digital support to schools and teachers by helping to tackle two major issues. \nFirstly, alleviating teacher workload within lesson planning, to empower teachers with more time to focus on their pupils. Secondly, building expertise, guiding teachers and school staff towards models and advice that help professionals in the sector to improve their schools’ own curriculum. Alongside this, we’re continuing to offer a digital, remote-education backstop. \nThis three-year strategy lays out how we are going to achieve that. At the heart of our approach is the knowledge that it is schools and teachers who know their context and pupils best. So as we continue to share new lesson planning and teaching resources, they will always be entirely optional and fully adaptable. It is our role to support and help build the expertise of teachers, maintaining professional autonomy. It must always be they who choose what and how to teach. \nSir Ian Bauckham CBE Chair \nMatt Hood OBE Chief Executive \nAbout Oak \nWe build high-quality, free and optional digital curriculum products to share the brilliance of teachers from across the country. We aim to put the best curriculum thinking, the deepest subject expertise and the smartest learning design at teachers' fingertips. All to help build their expertise and reduce their workload. \nOur purpose \nTo improve pupil outcomes and close the disadvantage gap by supporting teachers to teach, and pupils to access a high-quality curriculum. \nStrategic goals \nOver the next three years, we will achieve three strategic goals: \n1 \nContribute to improvements in the curriculum in schools \n2 \nMore teachers and pupils choose to use our products, more often \n3 \nBecome a high-performing, well-respected part of the sector \nImpact \nOver 164 million lessons taken1 \n40% of teacher users saved an average of 4 hours per week2 20% of all teachers used Oak over the past 6 months3 \nSupporting those in the most deprived areas \n– two-thirds more lessons taken in these communities4 \n1 Oak data analytics, March 2023 \n2 Oak National Academy annual evaluation by ImpactEd, 2023 \n3 Teacher Tapp, November 2023 \n4 Oak National Academy annual evaluation by ImpactEd, 2023 5 \n5 \nOak's foundations \nThe story of Oak is one of the tenacity, agility and collaboration of teachers and those dedicated to educating our country’s children. \nIn 2020, when the majority of pupils were unable to attend school at the start of the pandemic, teachers joined forces with schools, technology experts and education organisations. In under two weeks they had built and launched the first version of Oak to provide remote learning support for teachers and pupils nationally. \nAcross the next two years, we iterated and developed our offer to best support teachers and pupils. A diverse coalition of schools, subject associations, publishers, technology companies, and over 500 teachers created fully-sequenced online curricula, covering 27 subjects from key stages 1 to 4, and an","cbCaio7gg7LKWZXx","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaio7gg7LKWZXx","pdf",4920857,18,"English","# Welcome\n## About Oak\n## Oak's foundations and Oak today\n## Oak on a page\n## Theory of change\n## Strategic goals\n## How we deliver our purpose\n## Our governance","[{\"question\":\"What is the main purpose of Oak National Academy’s strategy?\",\"answer\":\"To improve pupil outcomes and close the disadvantage gap by supporting teachers to teach and pupils to access a high-quality curriculum.\"},{\"question\":\"What two major issues does the strategy focus on in the final year?\",\"answer\":\"Alleviating teacher workload in lesson planning and building expertise by guiding teachers and school staff toward practical models and advice.\"},{\"question\":\"How does Oak aim to maintain teacher autonomy when sharing resources?\",\"answer\":\"Resources are offered as entirely optional and fully adaptable so schools and teachers can choose what and how to teach.\"}]","Oak National Academy 2022-2025 Strategy - April 2024 update | PDF",1792548898,45]
