The story interleaves everyday gestures with sudden violence and explicit sexual brutality, using alternating viewpoints and fragmented time markers to heighten dread. Characters’ motives surface through hostile banter and strained intimacy, while the setting shifts from public roads to an abandoned site where control is enforced.","Mike Harris \n[O](OceanofPDF. com)[ceanofP](OceanofPDF. com)[D](OceanofPDF. com)[F](OceanofPDF. com)[.](OceanofPDF. com)[ com](OceanofPDF. com) \nFor the hopeless romantics. \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nLove is a funny thing. \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nC© 2026 Mike Harris \nAll rights reserved. A fact he started to regret once Suzie popped her Taylor Swift CD in the stereo. But the tags on the Caddy were expired and they couldn't risk anything that might draw extra attention to them. Retch kept his eyes focused on the road and did his best to tune out the shrill sound coming from the radio. \nThe smell? The smell was a bit harder to ignore. \nThe bag had been sitting in the back for at least a week and it had been an especially…seasonable August. \nThey were coming up on Main when Suzie reached over and turned down the radio. \nFinally, Retch thought. \n“Hey, pull in over here,” Suzie said. \n“What?” Retch asked. \n“Up ahead. Pull in,” she repeated. \n“You out your fucking mind?” Retch was doing his best not to yell.“Asshole, I'm hungry. Pull in.” \nSuzie grabbed the wheel and yanked it to the right, cutting across three lanes of traffic. \nFive minutes later they were parked behind Mickey's, where Suzie was busy dipping her burger in a small plastic tub of sweet and sour sauce. She \ntook a bite then turned sideways in her seat, lifting one of her legs and sticking her bare foot against Retch's face. He shook his head and turned away from her. \n“Knock it off,” he said. \n“God, you are such a fucking turn off,” she said, turning her focus back to her burger.“Y'know, if you keep acting like such a pussy, I'm gonna stop letting you fuck me. I'm not into girls.” \n“Could've fooled me,” he said. \n“That was a birthday present. And that whore gave me the clap,” Suzie said and threw a fry at him. \n“Stop.” Retch's patience was running thin. \n“Gah. Who shoved that stick up your ass today? Stop being such adowner. I said I was sorry.” \nSuzie lifted her shirt, exposing a pair of pale, petite breasts. She looked over at Retch with doe eyes, while she pinched and squeezed a puffy nipple.“You're not still mad at me, are you?” She asked. \nThe tent he was pitching told Retch that no, no he wasn't. \nHe unbuckled his seat belt and pulled down his pants before climbing over into the passenger seat. Suzie finished her burger while he came inside of her. Meanwhile, the 43-year old mother of two in their trunk continued to kick and scream. \n“Feel better?” Suzie asked. \nShe could feel him dripping down her leg. \nRetch signaled, then turned right onto Central. The warehouse was just up ahead. He made sure no one was behind them, then pulled up to the gate. The lock was busted, but the gate was still stubborn. And heavy. Retch got it to give up the space he needed and not much more. When he got back in the car he saw Suzie picking at one of her toenails. He looked again to make sure no one was around, then drove into the abandoned lot. \nThey parked near the rear entrance, out of sight from the road and any passing traffic it might bring.
