The answer, however, is not that simple. As Charlie grapples with the thought of being apart from his partner, he begins to wonder if their love is strong enough to survive the distance. For Nick, the decision is harder than it seems. He's excited about the opportunities university will bring, but he's also scared of leaving behind the life they've built together. As the time for goodbye draws near, both Nick and Charlie are forced to confront the reality of their situation. Will their love be enough to overcome the challenges of distance? Can they find a way to make it work despite being apart? Only time will tell. I picked up debut novel Solitaire by Alice Oseman because I needed more Nick and Charlie in my life. Five years later, I still enjoyed it but with a different perspective. The first reason is that I'm not entirely comfortable with the fetishization element in this novella. While I'm all for sex positivity, I would have preferred fewer post-sex images of shirtless Nick & Charlie cuddling in bed. The second reason is that I feel like the publisher stretched out an 80-page novella into a novel with huge spacing and large font, along with some doodles and Heartstopper-style comic pages. I'm also tired of hearing how weird Nick and Charlie think they are. They're just two average teenagers living in an average house, wearing average school uniforms, and doing nothing but cuddling and hanging out all day. Get over it! I want more of their story, not these constant affirmations about how unique they are. Nick and Charlie's relationship is put to the test as Nick prepares to leave for university soon. Can they work things out, or will distance break them? This charming novella wrapped itself right into my heart as usual. If only it was longer! I just want to keep reading their story forever. They're genuinely my favorite fictional couple. I loved the references to my favorite characters and feel like this book is helpful for teenagers heading to university soon. It may really help them work through some of their feelings if they're in a relationship. This one's a little more grown-up than the Heartstopper books, a little less PG. All I want now is to devour every single one of Oseman's books. They just make my heart feel light and put a smile on my face! I recommend this novella to any fans of the Heartstopper books; it's lovely to see how Nick and Charlie's story unfolds. Charlie's Relationship Explored in Heartstopper Novella Nick and Charlie's relationship has progressed significantly since the events of the Heartstopper graphic novel series. The novella delves into their emotional journey as they navigate a major hurdle: Nick leaving for college. Their miscommunication is central to the story, with Oseman skillfully portraying the anxiety and self-doubt that often accompanies young love. Through this narrative, readers can relate to the characters' struggles and anxieties as they face uncertainty about their future together. While some aspects of the novella may feel slightly off due to its release after other books in the series, it remains a heartwarming slice-oflife story that explores the challenges of maintaining a relationship.
