Megan Hanel and Tom Elms for Gold. Oliver Kipnis and Holly Callec for Green. Matt Boyte and Lilith Stewart for Red. \nCongratulations to everyone on reaching the end of a very successful year. There have been many events to celebrate over the past term in which students have been able to showcase their passions and their talents across a wide range of areas. Here @TC we base education on strengths and passions, as this is when we learn at our best, and seeing students’ work taking shape is extremely rewarding for all involved. Such highlights for the term include the various Drama performances, the Art Show in the new Hub, the Dance Spectacular and the Groovin’ in the Hub music performance to just name a few. \nThere are also many other successes that are not visible through grand public displays that are happening everywhere @ TC. It is very difficult to share all of these due to the number and range taking place. I would like to however congratulate our Robotics team on their domination at the recent Nationalsand in qualifying the school for a second year in a row to represent Australia atthe Robotics World Championships to be held in America. \nI would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Grads of 2019 now that our scored VCE students have received their results. Exam results time isone of mixed emotions in a school as the ATAR continues to be a system that is widely acknowledged to be outdated. The ATAR is only a number, a number that does not represent many of the skills that will determine success in life such as problem solving, the ability to cope and adapt with change, the ability to demonstrate leadership or work with people of a different age. These are all skills that our students generally demonstrate with ease due to the nature of the way that we do education here @TC. \nI do however want to acknowledge the hard work that students put into playing the VCE game. For many of our students, achieving a high study score was their aim for the year. I would like to congratulate all of our students who achieved their goal of reaching further education. The results achieved by our students were well above state averages, with many successes across the full range of subjects. We also have many of our students following their non VCE pathway, moving into apprenticeships or onto TAFE. It is on this that I would like to congratulate all of our VCAL students as well on their great levels of success this year. \nTC has been making some really positive moves towards 2020. In a year where we were shortlisted as Australian Government School of the Year, we also recognise that we still have improvements to make. Many of these changes have been shared with the community, and indeed started during the Head Start program with positive outcomes throughout the school. I do admit that the new times of the day will take some getting used to, but the added time into learning has been seen as a positive throughout the school with a more focused and refined Connect Program focusing on those things done so well through the program. We will be spending much of 2020 looking at the learning taking place at point of need for students to further enhance the quality of learning taking place at TC whilst still keeping those philosophies that make students so engaged with their learning. \nI want to finish by wishing everyone a safe holiday. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2020. We truly have a great school, and I am looking forward to seeing how we continue to improve even further next year. \nBy Peter Ellis Principal Templestowe College \nTC 2018-2021 Vision: To Co-create high quality learning experiences within an inclusive and supportive community \nGrads Final Day \nOur Graduate students celebrated their final day at the start of Term 4.
