A big part of that is supporting their physical and mental health so that they can flourish both inside and outside the classroom. \nRecently we’ve been encouraging students to think about the everyday choices that shape their wellbeing, such as getting enough rest, eating well, exercising, and taking time to care for their emotional health. It’s not always easy in a busy world, but small steps can make a big difference. We are reminded of Jesus’ words in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life, and have it to the full.” That promise of fullness guides the way we want our students to live: healthy, purposeful, and confident. \nWe’ve also been tackling some of the more serious challenges facing young people today, including vaping. Following the latest government guidelines, we’ve worked to raise awareness among our students about the dangers of vaping. Our approach has been both practical and caring as we set clear expectations while also creating space for conversations, so students feel supported to make positive decisions. The school’s Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking and Vaping Policy can be found on the school’s website. \nLast week’s Wellbeing Week was another highlight in this journey. Students and staff took part in Pilates sessions, healthy eating, Pickle Ball and creative workshops. Students were also encouraged to get active by participating in the Choice To Run activity. These events were designed to remind all of us that looking after ourselves should be a daily habit. It was inspiring to see students reflect, laugh, move, and connect in ways that left many feeling refreshed and re-energised. Teachers also commented on the positive atmosphere across campus, noting how even small acts like students encouraging each other in activities contributed to a stronger sense of community. \nLooking ahead, we’ll continue to place wellbeing at the heart of school life. We know that when students feel healthy, safe, and supported, they are more open to learning, more engaged with others, and more confident in themselves. Each student is wonderfully made and deserves the chance to live “life to the full.” \nGavin Kinch \nPrincipal \nAugust 2025 \nIN THIS ISSUE \nStaff News \nUpcoming Events \nTerm 3 Commendation Awards Singapore Mathematics Olympiad Childhood Hobby Led Him to Europe to Represent Singapore Taking Part in the Trifactor Duathlon Singapore Performing with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra Echoes Through Time: A Celebration Law Conference \nSG60 National Day Lunch Outreach Language Week \nMake The Change \nSJ Innovation Challenge \nHigher Education News \nTerm 3 Birthday & Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at Oldham Hall \nEnvoy CCA & the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) \n2025 Online International Academic Bowl Ceramics Exhibition \nPSP NEWS \nInter-House Chess Tournament Sports Council and CKS Charity Event CAS Trips \nYear 5 Geography Data Collection Trip to Bintan, Indonesia \nSVM Mooncake Fundraiser \nB \nNEWSLETTER | August 2025 \nSTAFF NEWS \nNew Staff \nACS (International) welcomes the following new staff who joined us in August. \nMs Alison Jane Ng \nTeacher (Chemistry) \nUPCOMING EVENTS \n\n| August | Event |\n| --- | --- |\n| 29 | Teacher’s Day celebrations |\n| | Methodist Schools Long Service Award Service |\n\n| September | Event |\n| --- | --- |\n| 1 – 12 | School Holidays |\n| 18 | Inter-House Quiz |\n| 19 | Visual Art Exhibition Opening |\n| | IGCSE Oral Exam (French/Spanish) |\n| 20 | ACS Oldham Hall Thanksgiving Dinner |\n| 22 – 23 | IGCSE Art Exam |\n| 22 | Year 5 Languages B\u003Cbr>(Chinese/Malay/Tamil) Prelim Paper 1 |\n| 24 | Year 4 Last Day |\n| | Year 4 O Level Chinese B Oral Exam |\n| | TEDx@ACS International |\n| 25 | Year 5 Languages B\u003Cbr>(Chinese/Malay/Tamil) Prelim Paper 2 |\n| | Year 4 and 6 Study Nights begin (Every Tuesday and Thursday until 1","cbCaicWvAa1tlILs","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicWvAa1tlILs","pdf",7351600,24,"English","# Staff News\n## New Staff\n# Upcoming Events\n## August Events\n## September Events\n# Term 3 Commendation Awards\n# Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO)","[{\"question\":\"What wellbeing themes and activities are emphasized in this newsletter?\",\"answer\":\"The newsletter encourages everyday choices that support physical and emotional wellbeing, and it highlights Wellbeing Week activities such as Pilates sessions, healthy eating, Pickle Ball, creative workshops, and the Choice To Run activity.\"},{\"question\":\"Where can families find the vaping-related guidance mentioned in the newsletter?\",\"answer\":\"The school notes that the Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking and Vaping Policy is available on the school’s website, following the latest government guidelines.\"},{\"question\":\"What academic achievement does this issue include details for?\",\"answer\":\"The newsletter includes Term 3 Commendation Awards and reports Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) results, listing student winners across junior, senior, and open divisions with certificate levels.\"}]","Newsletter - August 2025 | PDF",1790422060]
