It identifies resources in New York City, as well as the four upstate metropolitan areas to which most people return: Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse. This resource also identifies the Re-entry Task Forces in the twenty jurisdictions that have them. Re-entry Tasks Forces are funded by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services to provide stabilization and counseling services to men and women returning home from state prison. Each Task Force includes representatives from human service, faith-based, and criminal justice agencies, who work together to ensure that resources are available to smooth the transition home. Reentry Coordinators assist individuals in meeting their parole conditions as well as accessing employment, housing, cognitive behavioral programs, substance use treatment, and education/training services. \nPlease note that this information was collected in late 2019 and may have changed since then, but we hope this resource provides you with some leads in continuing your academic journey. \nThe John Jay College Institute for Justice and Opportunity expresses our appreciation to Dr. Marsha Weissman for conducting the research that informed this guide and to the District Attorney of New York Criminal Justice Investment Initiative for their support in making the New York State Back to School Guide and this resource possible. \nALBANY COUNTY \nALBANY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH \n175 Green St Albany, NY 12202 (518) 447-2003 \nCENTER FOR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES (CEO) \n41 State St, Suite M-109 Albany, NY 12207 (518) 426-0390 \nThe Albany County Re-entry Task Force serves are provided by the Albany County Department of Health. \nCEO is Dedicated to providing immediate, effective and comprehensive employment services to men and women with recent criminal convictions in New York.
