Developed over the course of 3 years, the plan is intended to serve as the framework for China’s education reform and development in the coming period. As such, it systematically describes the concepts, goals, and tasks of this reform and development. This article briefly reviews China’s education modernization 2035: namely, its background, core concepts and main content, features, and potential risks. \nBackground \nSince China implemented its reform and opening up policy in 1978, educational development has been guided by the idea that “education needs to be modernized, oriented to the world, and oriented to the future”(Gu, 1998, p. 1309). As such, China’s education modernization 2035 was initiated in the new era of educational development, both at home and abroad. \nResponse to UN’s The 2030 agenda for sustainable development \nReleased in 2015 and endorsed by all United Nations Member States, the Transforming our world: The 2030 agenda for sustainable development set out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for achieving sustainable human development in economic, social, and environmental dimensions. Of these, SDG 4 is related to education and seeks to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”(United Nations, 2015) . \nIn conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, and the United Nations High Commissioner for","cbCaidOPWqpDE0MH","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaidOPWqpDE0MH","pdf",156309,"English","en",105,"# Abstract\n## Purpose\n## Design/Approach/Methods\n## Findings\n## Originality/Value\n# Background\n## Reform and opening up since 1978\n# Response to the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development\n## SDG 4 and education\n# Response to the Chinese government’s demand to build a moderately prosperous society\n## “Three steps” strategy","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the article?\",\"answer\":\"The article aims to shed light on China’s education modernization 2035 policy blueprint issued in February 2019 by the Central Government.\"},{\"question\":\"What drives China’s education modernization 2035, according to the author?\",\"answer\":\"The author argues it is driven by three factors: the UN 2030 Agenda, China’s national strategy, and Chinese educational reform and improvement.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the policy initiative set out to do by 2035?\",\"answer\":\"It outlines eight key principles rooted in the Chinese context and ten specific strategic tasks to reform Chinese education toward 2035, also considering potential risks.\"}]","New National Initiatives of Modernizing Education in China | PDF",1792091778,25,{"code":4,"msg":81,"data":82},"ok",{"site_id":74,"language":73,"slug":83,"title":65,"keywords":84,"description":66,"schema_data":85,"social_meta":139,"head_meta":141,"extra_data":143,"updated_unix":144},"new-national-initiatives-of-modernizing-education-in-china","",{"@graph":86,"@context":138},[87,101,121],{"@type":88,"itemListElement":89},"BreadcrumbList",[90,94,96,99],{"item":91,"name":92,"@type":93,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":95,"name":9,"@type":93,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":97,"name":40,"@type":93,"position":98},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/research-report/",3,{"item":100,"name":65,"@type":93,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/new-national-initiatives-of-modernizing-education-in-china/601000/",{"url":100,"name":65,"@type":102,"image":103,"author":108,"headline":65,"publisher":110,"fileFormat":113,"inLanguage":73,"description":66,"dateModified":114,"datePublished":115,"encodingFormat":113,"isAccessibleForFree":116,"interactionStatistic":117},"DigitalDocument",{"url":104,"@type":105,"width":106,"height":107},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/new-national-initiatives-of-modernizing-education-in-china/601000.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":63,"@type":109},"Person",{"url":91,"name":111,"@type":112},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-29","2026-10-15",true,{"@type":118,"interactionType":119,"userInteractionCount":44},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":120},"ViewAction",{"@type":122,"mainEntity":123},"FAQPage",[124,130,134],{"name":125,"@type":126,"acceptedAnswer":127},"What is the purpose of the article?","Question",{"text":128,"@type":129},"The article aims to shed light on China’s education modernization 2035 policy blueprint issued in February 2019 by the Central Government.","Answer",{"name":131,"@type":126,"acceptedAnswer":132},"What drives China’s education modernization 2035, according to the author?",{"text":133,"@type":129},"The author argues it is driven by three factors: the UN 2030 Agenda, China’s national strategy, and Chinese educational reform and improvement.",{"name":135,"@type":126,"acceptedAnswer":136},"What does the policy initiative set out to do by 2035?",{"text":137,"@type":129},"It outlines eight key principles rooted in the Chinese context and ten specific strategic tasks to reform Chinese education toward 2035, also considering potential risks.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":100,"og:type":140,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":111,"og:description":66},"article",{"robots":142,"canonical":100},"index,follow",{"doc_id":61,"site_id":74},1792131933]
