It outlines adaptive question presentation with no fixed sequence, where each next question adjusts in difficulty based on prior responses. It also replaces point accumulation with scoring driven by predicted proficiency. They’re now based on \nNo set sequence of questions \npredicted proficiency; the system estimates a score that best reflects the student’s proficiency based on which questions were answered correctly and incorrectly. \nAdaptive Scoring: How Proficiency Prediction Works \nScore based on estimated proficiency rather than number of questions answered correctly \nThe test system assumes that each student has a proficiency level that can be expressed as a numerical score. The goal of the test system is to determine that level as precisely as possible by asking questions of varying difficulty. \nThe first question will be at a difficulty level near the middle of the expected proficiency of all students taking the test. This seems fair and is efficient. But after that first question the system updates its proficiency estimate of the student testing, either up, if correct, or down if incorrect. The next question (and every subsequent question) needs to be easier or harder based on performance on the prior question, because that’s the information the system needs to make the next update to its estimate. \nThe system keeps asking questions until it reaches a level of probabilistic certainty that it has determined the student’s precise proficiency level.","cbCaic44FCTzlwe4","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaic44FCTzlwe4","pdf",94222,"English","# Adaptive Question Presentation\n## No fixed sequence of questions\n## Difficulty updates after each response\n# Adaptive Scoring: Proficiency Prediction\n## Scores based on estimated proficiency\n## How the system updates after each answer\n## Probabilistic certainty stopping condition","[{\"question\":\"How does adaptive question presentation work on the digital SHSAT?\",\"answer\":\"There is no set sequence.
