Three times they have laid him in state in the church, and three times his body has been discovered the next day lying naked in the churchyard, sprawled among the stones. A priest offered to spend the night praying for him but was found dead the next day, apparently drowned—without so much asa drop of water near him. Half the town now thinks the dead man’s some kind of revenant or ghoul, and the call goes out: who can help bury the Scotsman?  \nKeeper’s Information  \nGillebride Friseal was a soldier and a brave fighter but all his life he was terrified of water, particularly the ocean. This is because, when a very young man, he was saved from drowning and ever afterward claimed that the Bean-nighe had lured him to his doom. The Bean-nighe is one of the good people, called the washing woman because she washes the clothes of those about to die.
