After receiving news from his brother that Jerusalem’s Jews face severe hardship and that the city’s walls and gates have remained destroyed since Babylon’s conquest, Nehemiah fasts, prays, and seeks God’s help. When the king notices his sorrow, Nehemiah requests permission to go to Judah to rebuild Jerusalem, and the king provides authority, letters of passage, and resources for reconstruction.","082 Nehemiah Rebuilds the Walls of Jerusalem \nNehemiah 1-4; 6 \nEnglish Spiritual \n082 Nehemiah Rebuilds the Walls of Jerusalem \nEnglish \n© 2020 Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. Nehemiah sat down and cried at this news. He fasted and prayed for God's help. \nOne day the king asked him why he looked so sad. Nehemiah said,“It is because the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins. Please send me to the city in Judah where they are buried so that I can rebuild it.” \nThe King agreed to his request. He also gave him letters to ask that the authorities let him pass through their lands going to Jerusalem and to give him wood for the reconstruction of the walls of Jerusalem. \nNehemiah got up at midnight three days after he reached Jerusalem. He went outside the city and inspected the walls and the gates on the southern side of the city.","cbCaiqn0d1mq4m47","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqn0d1mq4m47","pdf",3337487,1,22,"English","en",105,"# Nehemiah’s Background and Calling\n## News From Judah and Nehemiah’s Prayer\n## The King’s Questions and Permission\n## Inspection of the Walls and Gates","[{\"question\":\"Why is Nehemiah upset, and what does he do in response?\",\"answer\":\"Nehemiah learns that Jerusalem lies in ruins and that the walls and gates have never been rebuilt.
